  • Burnley reject a third bid for James Tarkowski

Burnley reject a third bid for James Tarkowski

According to SkySports, Burnley have rejected a third bid for England International James Tarkowski.

After two failed bids, West Ham made a £31m up front offer for Tarkowski but Burnley are adamant to sell him for his release clause of £50m.

Since joining from Brentford for £3.6m, James has been an integral part of Sean Dyche’s teams in the Premier League forming a strong partnership with Ben Mee.

Sean Dyche has time and time again reiterated his opinions that The Clarets will not sell their assets cheaply with Leicester also said to be interested in the player.

“We want to keep our players in-house, that’s for sure. With James Tarkowski, I am not planning on anything else other than him being here. He is a very good player and has delivered for us on a consistent basis over a long period of time. As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t see why any player would leave here at this moment in time and the numbers are considerable for that to be even considered.”

The West Ham hierarchy is under tremendous pressure to sign players after the sale of academy prodigy Grady Diangana to West Brom. Due to COVID-19, the club has struggled for funds and David Moyes looks to be in trouble after just one game of the Premier League.

  • Should West Ham give Jack Wilshere another chance?

Should West Ham give Jack Wilshere another chance?

In the world of football, one comes across many generational talents who just never lived up to the hype of expectations that were surrounding them, and Jack Wilshere is undoubtedly one of them.

He made his debut at the tender age of 16 with nothing but the world at his feet and extravagant praise from some of the best players on the planet. He was touted as the next golden boy and also made heads turn with some classy Champions League matches.

    Embed from Getty Images

Fast forward to today, and he is struggling to make his place in a West Ham team that constantly battles for relegation and may very well be on his way to an early exit from Top flight football.

West Ham is moving to cancel his contract and having just played a combined 16 games in the last two seasons with just two assists to his name whilst getting a salary of 6.2 million euros a year seems like an inevitable decision.

Jack Wilshere has had many ups and downs in his career along with long struggles with injury as well as professionalism on and off the pitch, and I don’t see any reason why west Ham would want to give him another chance.

    Embed from Getty Images

It may seem a bit harsh, and I hope that I am wrong and Jack Wilshere comes up and proves that he still has what it takes to be a class player, but at the age of 28 I don’t see him making a comeback to rise like a phoenix from the ashes.

While this may be a tragic story if anything younger players can learn the importance of keeping your head down and working your way through everything because no matter the talent you possess it can only ever take you so forward in life. To often we have seen this script where a wonderkid suddenly disappears from the radar, but in this case, it especially hurts because anyone who has seen Jack play in his teenage years can tell you that he had what it takes to be a world-beater.

  • West Ham’s loss against Newcastle; showed exactly why Grady Diangana will be missed!

West Ham’s loss against Newcastle; showed exactly why Grady Diangana will be missed!

It’s such a joyful thing when the most competitive and globally accepted English Premier league returns to our view after over a month off.

The Magpies started on a high when they hosted West Ham at St. James Park on Saturday afternoon. Newcastle took advantage of the Hammers’ shambolic, uncoordinated display and scored two vital goals on the opening day of the new season.

Throughout the afternoon, some questions could be asked, seeing David Moyes team’s lack of creativity, combination, cohesion and penetration all through the match.

Few days back, West Ham’s board had both been internally and externally criticized for their transfer dealing, which could be attributed to the surprise sale of their academy graduate Grady Diangana, who shone brightly while on a season long loan contract with West Bromwich Albion during last campaign.

West Ham captain Mark Noble and some other teammates had shown their displeasure concerning his departure, which was seen as a lack of foresight on the part of the board, due to the player’s young age and talent.

Rice said: “Grady went 10 days ago. He is a big miss for us.”

Mark Noble tweeted that he was “gutted, angry and sad” and Hammers’ head coach David Moyes responded when quizzed about Noble’s tweet and he responded that the skipper showed “exactly what the players feel”.

Mark Noble’s post on Twitter was liked by team-mate Declan Rice, while defender Arthur Masuaku replied with a broken heart emoji and many Hammers fans voiced their dissatisfaction with club owners David Sullivan and David Gold for taking such sour decision on the youngster’s exit.

“Go and do your thing in a club that respects you. Big player with a big future,” wrote midfielder Jack Wilshere on Instagram.

West Ham’s struggles and persistent fight against relegation during last season’s encounter had been linked with the Hammers misfiring attack, which was one of the most obvious reasons why they’ve failed to produce consistent convincing performances; an area where Grady Diangana would have seamlessly been very useful to the team this term, without spending a pound to find an external solution in the transfer market.

Diangana’s quality and ability to create chances out of nowhere could have made the difference for West Ham against Newcastle.

He likes to make bursting runs forward and take a go at defences. Last season, no player in the Championship had more successful dribbles than the 3.52 per 90 minutes made by Diangana. Grady laid off six assists and using his pace to sprint in behind defenders, he scored eight goals in  appearances last season. His inventive play, creativity and goal threats makes him a dangerous figure in the final third.

While on loan at West Bromwich, Diangana had chances created (41) 1.98 per game; dribbles made (73) 3.52 per game and Open-play crosses (44) 2.12 per game. Diangana mostly plays as a right-sided attacking midfielder but can as well play across the forward line. He cites Ronaldinho as an influence.

Diangana joined West Ham youth setup in 2010, at the age of 12. Starting as a striker but, he began playing as an attacking midfielder at under-15 level.

In September 2018, Diangana made a cameo appearance in his first Premier League outing, coming on as a 93rd minute substitute for Felipe Anderson in a 3–1 home victory against Manchester United.

With an injury to Andriy Yarmolenko, Diangana became a regular in the team and made his first league start against Leicester City on 27 October; while registering his first league assist in the game against Burnley.

Due to his quality at such tender age, on 18 January 2019, Diangana was rewarded with a longterm contract, penning a new six-year contract that would have kept him at the London club until 2025.

On 8 August 2019, West Bromwich Albion announced the loan signing of Diangana. He made 30 league appearances for Albion, playing a vital role in helping them to secure promotion to the Premier League.

On 4 September 2020, West Brom finally announced the permanent signing of Diangana for a reported fee worth £18million, pennng a five-year deal.

Considering the Hammers’ uninspiring outing against Newcastle, Chelsea’s target Declan Rice reluctantly rebuffed the notion of Diangana’s departure as the major cause for their display on Saturday, stating that: West Ham’s dreadful display had no link with the disappointment amongst the players regarding the departure of Grady Diangana.

After the Hammers loss, Rice said: “Grady went 10 days ago. He is a big miss for us. But none of that was in our minds, the dust has settled.”

Speaking to Sky Sports, he added: “I do not think we could have played any worse to be honest. We were poor as a team and individually. There is no time to play poor in the Premier League.

“We had a dip last year and found ourselves in the deep end and it was not enjoyable. Things did not go our way, slack touches, not really getting in behind enough, not creating chances. There are a couple of things you can put it down to. We need to turn up in these types of games.

“We need to be collectively better.”

    Embed from Getty Images

Asked whether the feeling among the players about the sale of Diangana had an impact on their performance against Newcastle, Moyes said: “Not a thing. When you are a footballer and are out on the pitch, that has nothing to do with it. You concentrate on the game once you cross the white line.

“The same players who played brilliantly well at the end of last season – I was hoping to get much the same from them, but we did not.”

Would West Ham early woes continues again this season, or does the solution lies in the transfer market, given the club’s search for proper addition from several linked players?

  • Match Report: Debutants help Newcastle United overcome West Ham United | Premier League 2020/21

Match Report: Debutants help Newcastle United overcome West Ham United | Premier League 2020/21

Newcastle United began their 2020/21 Premier League campaign on a good note after defeating West Ham United by two goals to nil on Saturday.

Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick who both arrived at Newcastle in the current transfer market were handed their debuts over the weekend, taking full advantage of the opportunity.

Both players scored in the second half to ensure that the Magpies heaped an early season pressure on David Moyes’ team at the London Stadium.

Wilson was a threat throughout the clash at the London Stadium and got his just rewards on 56 minutes when he powered into the net fellow debutant Hendrick’s flick ahead of Hammers goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski to bundle the Magpies’ opener home.

The goal also meant that the England international has now scored eight goals in nine appearances against West Ham.

The encounter looked certain to end with just the 1-0 scoreline heading into the final five minutes of the match but Hendrick made sure, adding a goal to his assist with an emphatic drive into the roof of the net four minutes from time to send Newcastle just goals behind Arsenal who currently are first on the league.

On the path of Steve Bruce’s side, this is the first time in eight years that the club have made a winning start to a league season.

Having had a quiet transfer business so far this summer, West Ham needed to come up with a convincing performance in their Premier League opener but the display against Newcastle was far from telling the story of the Hammers.

The home team had many chances to take the lead in the game on Saturday but failed to convert their chances. First, an Angelo Ogbonna header came off the crossbar before Jamaal Lascelles deflected a strike from Pablo Fornals onto the woodwork.

West Ham will have to ensure swift deals in the market if they are to stand a chance of overcoming their opening day defeat, with a game against Arsenal next in line next weekend.

  • Chelsea to use Ross Barkley in Declan Rice deal?

Chelsea to use Ross Barkley in Declan Rice deal?

According to reports making the headlines in England, Chelsea could be set to continue their pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

The west London outfit are understood to be keen on the midfielder and are prepared to include Ross Barkley in any deal that will see Rice end up at the Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard’s team are expected to wrap up a deal for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy after reaching an agreement with the French side.

And reports claim the Blues could turn their attentions to the England midfielder once they complete a move for the Senegal international over the weekend.

Lampard’s team have had majority of their transfer business sorted ahead of their first Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday.

Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Kai Havertz have all been signed by Chelsea as they look to match Manchester City and Liverpool for the league title this season.

However, they will need to trash out some dead woods in the squad if they are to continue their spending spree and the club is willing to use Barkley as a makeweight to sign Rice before the October 5 deadline, according Football Insider.

The publication also claims Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has given the go ahead for the 26-year-old to leave Stamford Bridge to join the Hammers with Rice coming in the opposite direction.

Barkley could be given much game time at the London Stadium should he end up being used in the deal. The England international played under manager David Moyes during their time together at Everton.

Since moving to Chelsea from the Goodison Park, Barkley has featured 83 times for the Blues, scoring 10 goals and laying on a further 11 assists.

Rice scored once and provided three assists in 39 appearances for West Ham last season across all competitions, and his ability to dictate the game is the reason why Lampard is keen on him.

  • How can Newcastle lineup against West Ham United? | Premier League 2020/21

How can Newcastle lineup against West Ham United? | Premier League 2020/21

Newcastle United start the new League campaign away to West Ham. The game at the London stadium is sure to be an edgy one, with both the sides having to field injury stricken squads many of the first team Regulars will be missing out for their season opener.

Players have been given minimal time to recover and those with injuries are finding it hard to get back in time before the season starts.

Newcastle could line up in a 4-4-2. Which will suit manager Steve Bruce’s approach of sit back and attack on the counters. The players that are most likely to feature are:

    GK: Karl Darlow

The Magpies will have to do without their star shot stopper Martin Dubravka who is still sidelined with injury meaning that Karl Darlow will be starting in goal for the away side. Dubravka has always had match winning performances with his Heroics winning the Magpies several points last season. Karl Darlow will have big gloves to  fill as he steps into the No. 1 role for Newcastle.

Defenders: Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernandez, Javier Manquillo

With Injury to Fabián Schar, and Paul Dummet and Ciaran Clark both not match fir and unlikely to feature Jamaal Lascelles will marshal the backline with Federico Fernandez completing the Centreback Pairing. Lascelles will have to monitor the runs of West Ham forward Mikhail Antonio. While winning Aerial duel will be a shared responsibility throughout the backline. Emil Krafth will be given a chance to impress as he is handed a start by Steve Bruce. Javier Manquillo will have to feature as a makeshift left-back, Jamal Lewis has a chance but with the discipline of Newcastle’s defence – doesn’t look like Lewis will be thrown in straight away. With few options at his disposal Steve Bruce will have to put his trust in the Spanish defender after he put in some impressive performances last season.

Midfield: Miguel Almiron, Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden, Allan Saint-Maximin

Steve Bruce will expect one thing from his midfield and that is work rate, chase around the center of the park to stop West Ham from building up any kind of offensive play and pushing them back into their own half. Shelvey and Hayden will be at the heart of the midfield with Almiron and Saint-Maximin playing as wingers to provide an attacking threat.

It’ll be interesting to see whom Bruce will bring on as substitutes in the second half.

    Strikers: Joelinton, Callum Wilson

Callum Wilson will be given a chance to make his debut for the Magpies on Saturday as he and Joelinton will form a partnership for The Magpies Upfront. Long balls have been a prominent play for Newcastle and Joelinton can use his height to flick passes through to Callum Wilson who looks like a more potent finisher.

Bruce will be going into the game knowing it will be hard for his team to attack without the risk of being countered. As is expected of Brice he will most likely set up defensively just to get the First points on the board. West Ham have a Potent counter attack and will look to exploit Newcastle’s out of position back line.

With Both managers knowing how important Points are early on in the season.

  • West Ham United in talks to terminate Jack Wilshere’s contract

West Ham United in talks to terminate Jack Wilshere’s contract

West Ham United are reportedly in talks with midfielder Jack Wilshere as they hope to terminate his contract this summer.

The former Arsenal moved to their London rivals in a free transfer after leaving the Emirates Stadium, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Hammers.

Wilshere has seen his face two seasons at the London Stadium hampered by injuries and with one year more left on his current deal, West Ham are understood to be in talks with the former England international to tear up his contract, reports talkSPORT.

He was hoping to revive his career at West Ham having seen injuries and fitness issues delay his progress at Arsenal after an early breakthrough.

However, his move to West Ham has not been any different as he continues to battle with injuries and that has triggered the club to consider an early exit for the midfielder.

Jack Wilshere has made just 16 Premier League appearances in two years and has only been on the pitch for 35 minutes since October last year.

And with little progress being made, both West Ham and the player believe it time to part ways with an agreement said to be close to being reached.

Wilshere has recently been urged by Arsenal legend Ray Parlour to move on in order to salvage his career.

“The most important thing is he needs to play football,” Parlour told talkSPORT. “He is 28 years old now. His body keeps letting him down. He had so many horrific injuries when he was such a young player that it has really taken its toll on his body.

“You have to be injury-free during your career and he hasn’t had that. He’s been inured probably more months than he has played.

“I’m sure Jack would want to play. I know the sort of character he is. He loves football and it probably really hurts him that he hasnt been able to play over the last three or four years.

“I’m sure there is a solution somewhere along the line where West Ham pay a bit of his wages, someone else will pay a bit of his wages, and then he can play football.

“West Ham will be saving money because if he is not in their plans and playing, you may as well let him go and try to ave yourself two-three millions pounds a year.

“It makes sense to West Ham and it makes sense to Jack.”

  • How can West Ham lineup against Newcastle United | Premier League 2020/21

How can West Ham lineup against Newcastle United | Premier League 2020/21

West Ham United will kick-off their Premier League season against Newscastle United at London Stadium.

The East London based club will start their Premier League in a bit of turmoil. The sale of academy product Grady Diangana has angered many Hammers fans. The decision was taken by the owners and manager David Moyes is not happy with it and so is the club captain Mark Noble, who publicly expressed his anger through Twitter and was supported by Declan Rice.

Their failure to bring in defensive reinforcements will hurt the club in the long term future. However they are in the hunt of signing Burnley defender James Tarkowski but the deal is taking more time than expected.

But with the current squad in David Moyes’ hands, Lukasz Fabianski’s form in the second season at London Stadium deteriorated but still he expected to keep his place in starting XI against Newcastle. Regulars Aaron Cresswell and Johnson will occupy the full-back options despite Johnson’s poor showing against AFC Bournemouth in the pre-season fixture.

Diop and Ogbonna had started to gel in second half of last season so they are likely to get a nod but Czech International Tomas Soucek will miss some fixtures after one of his international teammates had contracted the COVID-19 virus.

Club captain Mark Noble and Declan Rice will play as defensive midfielders while Pablo Fornals will push forward to support the attack. Record club signing Sebastian Haller is likely to a starting place in the side along with in form striker Michail Antonio and new club signing Jarrod Bowen.

West Ham United’s Predicted Line-up: Fabiański; Cresswell, Ogbonna, Diop, Johnson; Rice, Noble, Fornals; Antonio, Haller, Bowen.

  • Why Diangana is an important signing for West Brom

Why Diangana is an important signing for West Brom

West Ham United academy product Grady Diangana has completed a move to West Bromwich Albion for a fee of £12m rising to £18m with add-ons signing a five year deal.

Diangana played for the Baggies on loan from West Ham last year in the Championship, scoring eight goals and assisting a further six, helping West Brom achieve a promotion to the Premier League.

Slaven Bilic who managed West Ham from 2015 to 2017 has been instrumental in Diangana’s success. Grady was struggling to get adequate game-time for his development after making his debut in 2018 in an EFL Cup match, so when West Brom offered to take him on loan, he jumped at first chance.

    Embed from Getty Images

West Brom under Bilic mostly setup in a 4-2-3-1 formation last season. His two defensive midfielders allow the side to control the tempo of the match from deep positions, this allows the attackers to have a high intense press which puts the opposition under extreme pressure. In 19-20 season, West Brom scored 77 goals which was the joint second best attack in the league behind Brentford.

Dianagana has benefited from Bilic tactics, allowing him to occupy narrow positions on the pitch which helps to beat the low block of the opposition team. He likes to dribble a lot taking on the opposition’s defenders 2.4 times per match. Also Grady’s finishing has been solid due to taking 2.7 shots per game coupled with his creativity, making 1.5 chances for his teammates last year.

    Embed from Getty Images

Although not a very good defensive contributor completing 1.2 tackles&interceptions, this might be a indication that Bilic has asked England U-21 International to make less challenges and look for spaces to create goal scoring opportunities.

West Brom’s aging attacking line of Charlie Austin, Hal Robson-Kanu and Matt Phillips needed some needed new blood and additions of Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira will prove an investment worth in 20-21 season and for many years to come.

  • Why Tomáš Souček will prove the bargain signing of the summer

Why Tomáš Souček will prove the bargain signing of the summer

On the 29th January, West Ham United announced they have signed Slavia Prague midfielder Tomas Soucek on a six-month loan with an obligation to buy.

    HIS INTRODUCTION TO PREMIER LEAGUE

Fans of the Premier League were left scratching their heads as to who this midfielder was. Soucek was a first team regular player in Slavia Prague team having played all of their six group games in the Champions League group stages.

West Ham United were desperate to add a midfielder who was willing alongside the club’s academy product Declan Rice with Mark Noble nearing the end of his time at Olympic Stadium. Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyaté were two players who were brought in the team to carry this role but ultimately failed.

    Embed from Getty Images

After signing for the club on the back of amazing performances in the group consisting of Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, Soucek has surpassed all expectations and instantly became one of the first players on the team sheet.

    INSTANT IMPACT

In 13 appearances for the club in 2020, Soucek’s per 90 stats look like this:

    Tackles & interceptions completed: 3.9
    Clearances made: 2.8
    Dribbles completed: 0.7
    Average passes completed: 31
    Long balls completed: 3.5
    Shots per game: 1.5
    Goals Scored: 3

We see through the per 90 stats, that 2019 Czech Footballer of the Year is an all around midfielder who can do a bit of everything. He covers a lot of ground which helps the side regain possession of the ball quickly.

Standing at 6ft4, Soucek is a dangerous threat from set pieces. Chelsea fans may recognize him as he scored two headers in one half, helping the side defeat the six-time  Premier League champions 3-2 and complete a double over them.

    ATTITUDE

The Czech Republic international is the prefect example of player who wears his heart on the sleeve. He has worked hard so that West Ham could sign him on a permanent basis. Performances after performances, Soucek has proved that he is going to fight for the club till the last minute which has made him an instant fan favorite among the Hammers.

He has all the qualities needed for a leader having also led Slavia Prague prior to his departure. West Ham for a long time have signed players on big wages’ and Soucek is sign that the Hammers want to change this system.

Signing Soucek at £13.5m will definitely be one of the bargain of this summer transfer window.
