Chelsea set three conditions for a January loan of their unused £38m Brazilian winger as PSG circle

Estevao could leave Chelsea on loan in January, but the Blues have reportedly set three firm conditions that any suitor, including Paris Saint-Germain, will have to meet.

The 19-year-old right winger arrived from Brazil in the summer of 2025 for £38m (€45m), yet he has played just 172 minutes in eight appearances this season under manager Xabi Alonso. He has not made a single Premier League start, and the frustration is said to be growing as he weighs up his options for next month’s window.

PSG are open to adding a winger after the injury to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and the left-footed Estevao has been linked with the French capital. Barcelona are also reported to be interested, according to AS.

Estevao transfer: what are Chelsea’s three conditions?

According to Team Talk, Chelsea would only sanction a loan, and only if three boxes are ticked. A permanent departure is categorically ruled out, because the idea on the English side is not to lose control of the winger.

  • Loan only, no option to buy. The deal could be extended by a year from next summer if everything goes well.
  • The new club pays his entire salary. Capology puts his earnings in England at £6.3m (€7.4m) a year.
  • Guaranteed playing time. Chelsea want assurances that he will receive significant minutes.

Why PSG may struggle to meet the Estevao demands

The wages should not frighten PSG. The playing-time promise is the sticking point. Paris do not guarantee minutes to their signings, and apparently even less so for a loanee with no long-term future at the club.

Chelsea are reportedly not against the idea of seeing Estevao develop under Luis Enrique, who is known for helping young players progress. Asked about recruitment after the Kvaratskhelia injury, the Spaniard said that no injury means a new player has to be signed, though he does not consider that PSG must automatically be active in the winter market. That may also be a signal that Paris will not bow to price rises around their targets.

PSG have also contacted Leverkusen attacking midfielder Ibrahim Maza, and the reigning two-time European champions could yet turn to Chelsea instead.

Estevao to PSG: what happens next?

For Chelsea, this is about protecting an expensive asset while he gets the game time he is missing. We reported earlier this week on how the Blues chased another teenage prospect, and the club have already made half a billion euros from outgoing transfers this year, so they are in no rush to sell cheaply.

If the last demand is not removed from the negotiations, it looks difficult to see Estevao in a PSG shirt this winter, even if the possibility is exciting in itself.

A loan makes sense for everyone except PSG’s pride. Chelsea keep the rights to a Brazilian they paid £38m for, and Estevao gets the minutes that a fifth-placed side with a settled attack cannot offer him. Whether Luis Enrique will promise a six-month loanee a role is another matter, and that single condition may decide where the winger spends the second half of the season.
