Regardless of where Brighton & Hove Albion end up in the Premier League table, they have done better than what was expected out of them.

The rise of Brighton has been UNBELIEVABLE in the past two years. Three easy points, that is what the game against Brighton was considered by the top 6 clubs, not as far as 3-4 years back. While that is not the case now. Teams that used to smile their walk through the streets of Brighton, now fear to enter the same territory.

If not fear, they tend to take the Seagulls as seriously as Germans take their beer. Brighton & Hove Albion has surely come a long way and that too exponentially; from being a team fighting for relegation spots in 2021 to a team yearning to play European Football this season. Let’s ponder more on what has caused the rise.

The winning chants echoing around the blue and white seats have become a common sight now. The development of this team is instilled by a lot of factors working in favour of the team. Brighton’s growth started under Graham Potter many would say but it was earlier than that when the club actually started to take the Premier League seriously and invest mindfully.

Yes, it was under Graham Potter’s helm that the Seagulls actually started terrifying top clubs of the Premier League and gave them a tough time winning. They may not be winning against big names a few years back but we’re surely showing glimpses of immense transformation and continuous improvement.

Brighton & Hove Albion finished 9th in the last season and are on their way to qualifying for European Football this season which happens to be the first time in their entire history. Before last season they were consistently kissing the door of relegation and were being just saved from it. In the last 4 seasons before 2021, the best they could finish was 15th position.

The De Zerbi impact

Brighton started this season on a high, being in the top four for quite sometime during the start. They however dropped points, and had to let Graham Potter go along with seeing their star Trossard leave for Arsenal. They were doomed to fall after such events but they didn’t. The Seagulls rose back stronger and signed Roberto De Zerbi as Potter’s replacement.

And since then there has been no coming back. After Trossard’s exit, the club also saw the likes of Mitoma and World Cup winner Mac Allister stepping up and winning games for the club. Both the winger and midfielder have been a sensation this season, helping Brighton stay on course for their first European entry.

Brighton still has chances of qualifying for the Champions League after Newcastle and Manchester United losing points in their latest games. Nonetheless, even if they are to qualify for the Europa League, they will happily tap their backs out of pride.

Roberto De Zerbi has already led the club to greater heights scaring and winning against the top 6 teams. His team recently won 1-0 against Manchester United courtesy of Mac Allister’s penalty in injury time. They had also almost won the FA Cup semi-final against Erik Ten Hag’s Man United but succumbed to the penalty shootout. Not only that, De Zerbi’s Brighton has already won and thrashed teams like Tottenham Hotspur or Liverpool for that matter.

The goal ahead

Brighton has only one way forward now and that is up ahead. Seagulls look high on confidence and are determined to fight for top 6 positions continuously in upcoming Premier League seasons. If they are to qualify for European Football this term, they will also have extra funds in hand to procure quality talent and maybe earn aplenty by selling their players in whom big giants are interested.
