Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno thinks that Gabriel Martinelli can become a world-class player in the future because of his mentality. Leno has made a bold prediction about the Brazilian youngster and thinks Martinelli has everything to become a future superstar.
The Brazilian wonderkid arrived at the Emirates last summer for around £6million. But his transfer deal looks like a bargain as the youngster has hit the ground running at the Emirates. He has 10 goals from 26 games for the Gunners so far. He has the aptitude and attitude to go all the way.
Leno says he has no doubt about Gabriel and he has everything to be a world-class player.
“He can become a world-class player,” Leno told Soccer AM.
“World-class 100 per cent because he has talent, he has quality. But I think his biggest strength is his mentality. He is working unbelievably.
“I remember in our bad time when we struggled a lot, he was working so hard, he was one of the leaders and at 18 years old he came from nowhere, nobody knew him before and to play like this, to behave like this is very good to see.
“I think if he keeps going like this he will be an unbelievable player.”
Martinelli is one of the youngsters who are flourishing for the Gunners this season. Bukayo Saka, Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson and Saliba are getting first-team opportunities under Arteta and have all been talismanic for the team.
“I think for the fans it’s very good because you have a very young team, they can develop very quickly,” Leno added.
“You can see they compete, they are playing a lot of games.
“Saka is very young, Joe is still very young, Reiss had experience in Germany and he is doing very well now. We can have a very good time with them.
“Of course, they need time, you have to give them the time and if they have a good mentality, we will be successful with them.”
