Sheffield United star goalkeeper Dean Henderson could have his name entered in the Premier League record book if he continues his spectacular form this season.

The 22-year old has managed to keep 5 clean sheets this season. He sits on top of the Premier League for most clean sheets kept tied with Leicester stopper Kasper Schmeichel and Manchester City star Ederson, who have 5 clean sheets each.

The Blades’ stopper, who is serving his second season on loan at the club, has been in terrific form and has helped Sheffield reach 5th on the table. His efforts have also earned him a call up to the England National Team.

And the youngster might be able to enter the Premier League record books if he keeps up his form this season. As per the official Premier League Website, Dean Henderson can become the first goalkeeper to win the Golden Glove Award with a promoted club.

The Premier League Golden Glove is awarded to the goalkeeper who keeps the most clean sheets in a season. Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker won the honour last season as he kept 21 clean sheets. And Dean Henderson also managed to keep 21 clean sheets, but in the Championship. However, that stat will encourage him and make him confident to progress more.

Only 2 players have won the prestigious honour 4 times, Joe Hart and Petr Cech. Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina won the award 3 times in a row from 2005 to 2008. If Henderson wins it, he’ll join other Manchester United goalkeepers in Edwin Van Der Sar and David De Gea.

However, with 26 matches to go in the Premier League, the honour is yet to be decided. And the Sheffield keeper will be missing his club’s next match as they face his parent club Manchester United. This means that back-up keeper Simon Moore is most likely to play in goal for the Blades. Henderson’s absence gives a great opportunity to Schmeichel and Ederson to move ahead of the Sheffield star.
