But he feels “Honoured” to be a part of Arsenal Football Club and has no intention to leave anytime soon, If ever.
He’s an attacking midfielder who’s usually being used on the left wing or the right wing, but he’s comfortable playing in the middle as he played as a Central Midfielder for most of his footballing career. But interestingly, He started his career as a left back and that’s what he credits his defensive instincts to. Though he still believe his defensive game is something he has to improve on to get close to his idol Steven Gerrard, a legend of the game.
He likes the look of Matteo Guendouzi, an all action Midfielder, and Lucas Torreira, someone he’s personally inspired as he has made him believe that one can succeed as a Midfielder in the Premier League without being a six-footer, as height isn’t his best attribute too. But while he looks up to Midfielders like Gerrard, He also has the much required qualities of an attacking midfielder, He is usually positions himself in the spaces between opposition’s defence and midfield, and makes those runs behind the defence to create space for the strikers to operate, a striking resemblance with Mesut Özil.
Cottrell is also excited by the changes happening around England Football and Arsenal as he believes more emphasis is being paid to technique in the current atmosphere. Well, all we can say is that we’re also excited to watch you play Cottrell.
If the 18-year-old really can be as good as Steven Gerrard or Mesut Özil then Arsenal really have a bright star shinning for them in the future.
