The highly respected Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has just disclosed what tends to be great news to the Arsenal faithful.
The imminent announcement of 19-year-old Brazilian winger Marquinhos has just received a huge boost, with the confirmation that Arsenal and Sao Paolo have reached an agreement concerning the player’s rights and future sale clause.
Arsenal and Sao Paolo have been in the advanced stage of finalizing the move for Marquinhos to Arsenal but a sudden disagreement over a proposed clause to be inserted in the deal later caused a halt in negotiation between both parties.
It has now been reported that Arsenal’s refusal to include a percentage of the future sale has yielded a positive outcome, hence, the Gunners now own 100% of the player’s contract.

The report of Marquinho’s imminent arrival came at a time when Arsenal fans are expecting to see the club be active in the transfer market considering how the team has suffered due to a lack of squad depth and quality.
Going into the summer transfer window, Arsenal has already been linked with players like Hickey, Gabriel Jesus, Gakpo, Osimhen, Nunez, and AS Roma’s forward Tammy Abraham.
But Arsenal have opened their account with a keen eye to the future by dipping into the South-American talent pool in Marquinhos, whose first mention as a potential Arsenal signing, hasn’t been taken with much joy just like his compatriot (Martinelli) signing from the Brazilian league third-tier side Ituano a few seasons ago.
Despite his young age, pretty inexperience, and lack of frequent ceremonious top-tier football actions, anyone looking down on his signing didn’t learn from Gabriel Martinelli’s arrival during the 2019 summer, aged 18.
His performance in his maiden season at the club received praise from the-then head coach Unai Emery, who said: “He’s hungry to have that opportunity to help us, he is very humble, he fights. I told him to have some patience for his opportunity to do like he was doing. He did that. He deserved it”.
“He’s an 18-year-old kid with all the enthusiasm. Brave [enough] to threaten the opponent every time. The way he went about every single action is impressive.” —Arsenal’s head coach Mikel Arteta on Martinelli’s performances.
Martinelli has gone on to be a mainstay in Arsenal’s team despite having a change of manager. Under Mikel Arteta, several young players have had immense improvement in their game including Martinelli, hence, the transitioning and the obvious improvement in Marquinhos game will undoubtedly be highly explicit under the tutelage of Arsenal’s manager.
Although this one looks like a bit different kind of an acquisition; Arsenal are trying to take advantage of a poorly negotiated contract by Sao Paulo here and Marquinhos’ imminent arrival is likely to get him involved at either Hale End or possibly send him out on loan to get much needed experience in his legs. Edu, alongside Per Mertesacker, have keenly invested in Arsenal’s academy in the last couple of years and it looks like despite Mikel and his plans of acquisitions – the Gunners will continue to boost the pasture Hale End has always been to London Colney.
