Liverpool will take a trip to the Etihad Stadium to lock horns with Manchester City, bearing in mind that the Premier League title is already won.

The tie previously tipped to be the potential title-deciding game until City loss to Chelsea in the last league game at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds have secured their first league title in 30 years with seven matches still yet to be played, the earliest in the history of the Premier League.

Though the title battle is over, the match continues to be highly anticipated as both teams will be playing for the bragging rights.

Liverpool won the first encounter back in November with a 3-1 scoreline, with Fabinho, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane all scoring for Jurgen Klopp’s side while Bernardo Silva scored a consolation for the away side.

Pep Guardiola will be without Fernandinho who was sent off against Chelsea and is expected to be suspended for two games, while Sergio Aguero’s knee problem also rules him out of the clash against the league leaders.

Fernandinho’s absence should pave way for Nicholas Otamendi to partner Aymeric Laporte at the heart of defence for the Citizens.

Joel Matip is set to miss the game after suffering a foot injury in Liverpool’s draw against Everton, with James Milner also doubtful for the mouthwatering contest at the Etihad.

Xherdan Shaqiri is back to full training and should be given some minutes under his belt on Thursday.
