Seven out at Chelsea and Arsenal without their talisman: Premier League gameweek 9 injury list, club by club

Premier League gameweek 9 injury list: Chelsea have seven players out, Tottenham have six plus a suspension, and Arsenal go to Anfield without Bukayo Saka or William Saliba. Here is every player out or doubtful, club by club.
Almost all of the pre-match press conferences are done, so this is where all 20 clubs stand before Saturday’s opening game at Stamford Bridge. We have gone through it fixture by fixture, with injuries and bans listed separately from those who are simply a late call.
Plenty can still change in Saturday’s training sessions, particularly for the Sunday and Monday games. Some of the names below are genuine 50-50s, and we have said so where a manager has left it open.
Chelsea vs Manchester United injuries (Saturday, 12.30pm)
Chelsea injury list
Out: Maxence Lacroix (hamstring), Reece James (knee), Joao Pedro (thigh), Emiliano Martinez (jaw), Jamie Gittens (ankle), Aaron Anselmino, Jorrel Hato.
Lacroix went off at half-time against Liverpool and will not be back before the international break, while Martinez has a chance of returning before it, possibly in a face mask. Cole Palmer is back from his ban, Moises Caicedo is fine after coming off in midweek, and Pep Chavarria has returned to the squad. There is more on what it all means in our Chelsea vs Manchester United preview.
Manchester United injury list
Out: Benjamin Sesko (shin), Luke Shaw, Manuel Ugarte (knee), Patrick Dorgu (hamstring).
Doubtful: Marcus Rashford (hip), Kobbie Mainoo.
Sesko has been ruled out until at least January, with Michael Carrick saying: “We’re still not clear of exactly how long, but it’s going to be for a longer period of time.” Mainoo is back in training and could make the bench, but Rashford looks set to miss out again.
Bournemouth vs Leeds injuries (Saturday, 3pm)
Bournemouth injury list
Out: Alex Toth (hamstring), Julian Araujo (thigh), Alex Scott (tendon).
Doubtful: Veljko Milosavljevic (knee).
Scott is back on the grass and could return in gameweek 10. Eli Junior Kroupi has had two cameos but is not ready to start, with Marco Rose saying: “We still need to build up his game time.”
Leeds injury list
Out: Mateo Joseph (knee), Joe Rodon (hamstring).
Doubtful: Anton Stach (foot).
Daniel Farke said: “Anton Stach is struggling still a bit with his foot injury.” Rodon is partly back in team training, while Nico Elvedi, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor are all expected to be available.
Brentford vs Nottingham Forest injuries (Saturday, 3pm)
Brentford injury list
Out: Rico Henry (hip), Kaye Furo (knee), Fabio Carvalho (knock).
Suspended: Yehor Yarmolyuk (third game of a three-match ban).
Doubtful: Antoni Milambo (knee), Josh Dasilva (hamstring).
Keith Andrews has ruled Carvalho out until after the international break. Milambo and Dasilva are back training and close, and Vitaly Janelt is available again after his one-match ban.
Nottingham Forest injury list
Out: Igor Jesus (calf), Nicolo Savona (knee).
Doubtful: Dan Ndoye (hamstring), Nicolas Dominguez (muscle).
Oliver Glasner says Ndoye will sit this one out if there is any risk, and Dominguez only returned to squad training on Friday, with gameweek 10 a more realistic target. Neco Williams trained all week and is fine.
Coventry vs Sunderland injuries (Saturday, 3pm)
Coventry injury list
Out: Haji Wright (quad), Luke Woolfenden (knee), Josh Eccles (ankle), Aurele Amenda (calf).
Doubtful: Bobby Thomas (calf).
Frank Lampard says Thomas has a small calf problem rather than the more serious issue first feared. Wright is at least back on the grass.
Sunderland injury list
Out: Dan Ballard (hamstring), Romaine Mundle (knee).
Doubtful: Nordi Mukiele, Wilson Isidor (knock), Jocelin Ta Bi (calf), Omar Alderete (knock), Juan Angulo (knock).
Regis Le Bris expects Isidor to be available and will decide on Mukiele, who has a minor short-term problem, on Saturday. Thomas Meunier returned in the cup and Kevin Danso is back from a ban.
Hull vs Ipswich injuries (Saturday, 3pm)
Hull City injury list
Out: Matt Targett (ankle), Ilyas Ansah (back), Charlie Hughes (groin), Eliot Matazo (knee), Darko Gyabi (groin).
Doubtful: Jack Butland (shoulder), Lucas Gourna-Douath (calf), Nobel Mendy (groin).
Butland is training with the group ahead of schedule and Mendy is expected to make the matchday squad. Oli McBurnie and Lewie Coyle have both shaken off minor issues.
Ipswich injury list
Doubtful: Sasa Lukic (groin).
Gary O’Neil said on Friday: “He was on the grass today. He looked good, to be fair, so we’ll make a call on Sasa tomorrow.”
Man City vs Brighton injuries (Saturday, 3pm)
Man City injury list
Out: Antoine Semenyo (knee).
Semenyo is the only absentee and is not expected back until mid-December. Matheus Nunes has returned and Iliman Ndiaye is fine after cramp, so Enzo Maresca has a clean bill of health otherwise.
Brighton injury list
Out: Kaoru Mitoma (hamstring), Femi Azeez (hamstring), Pascal Struijk (hamstring), Evan Ferguson (ankle), Stefanos Tzimas (knee), Zadok Yohanna.
Doubtful: Ferdi Kadioglu (hip), Chema Andres (hip).
Fabian Hurzeler said he is “quite convinced” that Kadioglu and Andres will be options. Mitoma is not expected back until after the international break, while Brighton did get Yankuba Minteh and Mats Wieffer back as substitutes in the cup.
Tottenham vs Crystal Palace injuries (Saturday, 5.30pm)
Tottenham injury list
Out: Lucas Bergvall (knee), Tosin Adarabioyo (calf), Savio (muscle), Mykhaylo Mudryk (ankle), Xavi Simons (knee), Wilson Odobert (knee).
Suspended: Rodrigo Bentancur.
Roberto De Zerbi does at least have James Maddison (groin) and Destiny Udogie (knee) available again.
Crystal Palace injury list
Out: Ismaila Sarr (groin), Takehiro Tomiyasu (calf), Chadi Riad (knee).
Doubtful: Jorgen Strand Larsen (ankle), Quinten Timber (hamstring).
Strand Larsen is training with the group and could return, Timber may get some minutes, and Dean Henderson is back in goal after his ankle problem. Jean-Philippe Mateta was only rested in midweek.
Aston Villa vs Fulham injuries (Saturday, 8pm)
Aston Villa injury list
Out: Amadou Onana (knee), Matteo Ruggeri (hamstring), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (hamstring).
Doubtful: Johan Manzambi, Nicolas Jackson.
Neither played in midweek. Unai Emery said it was “for different reasons, not only rest. We are going to train and normally yes.” Both should make it, though it is worth keeping an eye on Jackson.
Fulham injury list
Suspended: Ryan Sessegnon (three-match ban).
Doubtful: David Affengruber.
Alvaro Arbeloa reported “no new injuries.” Affengruber finished the Coventry game with some pain and missed the Crystal Palace tie, though that looks like a precaution, and Emile Smith Rowe is fit.
Liverpool vs Arsenal injuries (Sunday, 4.30pm)
Liverpool injury list
Out: Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring), Hugo Ekitike (Achilles), Conor Bradley (knee), Giovanni Leoni (knee).
Doubtful: Dominik Szoboszlai (hamstring), Victor Munoz (knee).
Andoni Iraola said of the doubtful pair: “I think they have a chance. They have a chance. But I don’t know for sure if they will be involved or not.” Florian Wirtz came through half an hour in midweek after his ankle problem. Our Liverpool vs Arsenal preview looks at how it all shapes the game.
Arsenal injury list
Out: Bukayo Saka (quad), William Saliba (back).
Suspended: Max Dowman (first game of a three-match domestic ban).
Doubtful: Noni Madueke (ankle), Declan Rice (hamstring), Riccardo Calafiori (hip), Christos Tzolis (hamstring).
Rice, Calafiori and Tzolis all trained on Friday, with Mikel Arteta saying: “They all trained today, they will train tomorrow and if everything is OK they will be available.” Madueke is the real concern, as it depends on whether he gets through Saturday’s session.
Newcastle vs Everton injuries (Monday, 8pm)
Newcastle injury list
Out: Ewen Jaouen (hamstring), Tino Livramento (knee).
Doubtful: William Osula (ankle), Lewis Miley (muscle), Matias Fernandez-Pardo (illness).
Osula twisted his ankle in the cup tie against Everton and went off at half-time, so he could well join the absentees.
Everton injury list
Doubtful: Jarrad Branthwaite (concussion), Jack Grealish.
Branthwaite should be fit for Monday, and Vitalii Mykolenko got through 86 minutes on Thursday. Grealish is not injured: he was left out of the cup squad on disciplinary grounds, and David Moyes would not say whether he will be available.
Which club has the worst gameweek 9 injury list?
On numbers, it is Chelsea, with Tottenham and Brighton close behind. In terms of damage, though, nobody can touch Arsenal. Saka and Saliba are two of the first names on Arteta’s team sheet, Dowman would have been in the mix to replace him on the right, and it all lands in the same week as a trip to Anfield.
Man City are the opposite. With Semenyo the only man out, Maresca is the one manager going into the weekend with almost everybody available, and that could matter more than anything else on this list.
