There’s been plenty of noise lately surrounding Enzo Maresca and reported interest from Juventus, but the latest update from a trusted source offers a clear picture of where things stand and it’s very good news for Chelsea.
Reports emerged last week claiming that Juventus are keeping tabs on Maresca’s progress at Stamford Bridge. The Serie A giants are said to be admirers of the Italian coach, viewing him as a potential long-term candidate to take charge in Turin. However, as it stands, it’s very much a monitoring situation rather than an active pursuit.
After a nervy first half against Nottingham Forest, Chelsea produced a clinical final 30 minutes to seal a 3-0 win, keeping themselves firmly in the top four conversation and, crucially, within reach of league leaders Arsenal. Maresca, as he did so often last season, made the right tactical tweaks to turn things around when it mattered.
So is there anything in the Juventus talk?
Not really, according to transfer insider Pete O’Rourke. Speaking on the Inside Track podcast this weekend, O’Rourke gave a firm update on the situation:
“He’s fully focused on Chelsea right now. His focus is continuing to build on the success he had last season where he got Chelsea back into the top four, into the Champions League, they won the Conference League, then they won the Club World Cup in the summer.
“This season, all focus will be seeing if he can improve on that and try and make Chelsea title contenders if possible. Chelsea are happy with Maresca, Maresca is happy at Chelsea. He’s under contract until 2029.”
That last point is important. Chelsea made a long-term commitment to Maresca, and all signs so far suggest it’s a project both sides are invested in. The club have built a young, talented squad with Maresca’s input, and there’s a clear vision in place, something Juventus may admire, but not something they’re likely to disrupt just yet.
For now, though, Maresca is going nowhere. Chelsea are progressing under his leadership, and while Juventus may admire from afar, Maresca remains fully focused on building something special in west London.
