Tottenham have been made to wait for their summer headline signing. Randal Kolo Muani arrived from Paris Saint-Germain on loan with big expectations but has so far played just 13 minutes, a late cameo in the 1-0 Champions League win over Villarreal. Since then, a lingering dead leg has kept him sidelined, sparking frustration and confusion around the true nature of the injury.

Despite being labelled a minor issue, Kolo Muani’s absence has stretched into multiple weeks. Now, injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar has offered clarity on the situation, suggesting the striker’s muscle damage may have been more severe than first believed.

“There can be a big impact on the muscle, which can lead to high levels of pain and dysfunction,” Brar explained. “If there’s bone bruising as well, timelines become unpredictable.”

Importantly for Thomas Frank and the club, Brar noted this was a contact injury, more down to misfortune than underlying fragility. Kolo Muani is now expected to return shortly after the international break, just in time for a packed October schedule in both the Premier League and Champions League.

Spurs have managed results without Kolo Muani, including a 2-1 win over Leeds where Mathys Tel found the net. However, the frontline has lacked consistency and bite. Richarlison’s work rate hasn’t translated into goals, while Dominic Solanke remains out with a long-term ankle injury. That leaves Frank short of variation in attack especially when facing deep blocks or teams that press high.

Kolo Muani brings a different dynamic: explosive pace, physical presence, and efficiency in front of goal. His ability to stretch defences, hold the ball under pressure, and break quickly in transition fits perfectly with Frank’s tactical framework. His return could transform Tottenham’s tempo in the final third.

The numbers underline Kolo Muani’s potential influence. He scored 26 goals in 50 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt, followed by 10 in 22 games at Juventus. His international experience with France adds further weight to his big-game credentials. For Spurs, who have dropped points against Wolves and Bodo/Glimt in recent weeks, that extra level of quality could prove decisive.

Frank’s system depends on fluid movement and rapid transitions. With Kolo Muani back, the frontline finally has a focal point capable of delivering both. His timing couldn’t be better and if he hits stride quickly, Tottenham could find a new attacking rhythm just when the season demands it most.
