Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly considering a move for Leicester City centre-back Wout Faes.

The 26-year-old has become an integral member of the Foxes’ backline and has started in all seven of Leicester’s league games this season. Faes inspired Leicester to their first victory of the season against Bournemouth and has had a good international break so far, having played the full 90 minutes against Italy in the UEFA Nations League.

Italian media outlets have reported that Juventus’ director of football, Cristiano Giuntoli, attended the match between Italy and Belgium. Faes is said to be one of the players the Italian was scouting. One of Juventus’ key defenders, Gleison Bremer, is sidelined for a long duration after getting surgery following an ACL injury. The Italian giants are searching for a central defender and may make a move for Faes in the January window. Keeping the Belgian at the club will be challenging if Juventus send an official bid.

Faes was reportedly unhappy at the beginning of the season due to being played on the left-hand side of the defence. Jannik Vestergaard was Faes’ partner for the first two games, and his lack of pace meant he was stationed as the central defender. With Victor Kristiansen pushing up, Faes was forced to play as a wide centre-back on the left flank. However, following Caleb Okoli’s inclusion in the starting eleven, the Belgian centre-back has been deployed in his preferred position on the right.

Losing Faes would be a big blow for Leicester. The 26-year-old joined the Foxes as Wesley Fofana’s replacement in 2022. Leicester paid Reims a reported £13 million for the defender, and Faes has become a mainstay in the Foxes’ backline. In his three seasons at the club, the Belgian has made 81 starts. Although Faes is notorious for his lapses in concentration, the centre-back is largely solid and has shown improvement in his game over the past few months.

Thankfully, Juventes’ interest is not at an advanced stage yet, but if Faes continues performing as he did against the Cherries, more top clubs are bound to take notice of him.
