Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury has dislocated his shoulder following a tackle in a training session and could be out for months.

In the pre-match press conference for Bournemouth, Steve Cooper confirmed that the Leicester academy graduate would be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a “normal” challenge.

“Hamza dislocated his shoulder in training yesterday, It was innocuous. It’s settling down, and we’re trying to work out how long. It could be weeks or months. Jannik has started training fully today. He’s back today. Some players have had kicks and they’ve not trained yet. With Hamza, it was just a normal challenge.”

“It was a really unfortunate situation. It was a normal duel, a normal challenge, no foul, and unfortunately his shoulder ended up on the wrong side of an awkward position.”

Cooper also confirmed Vestergaard’s availability but stated that a few players are a slight doubt for the weekend clash against Bournemouth. When asked whether he would be willing to reveal the players who could be a doubt for Saturday’s match, Cooper replied, “No, not at the moment. A couple of lads are touch-and-go, to be fair, so we’ll wait and see.”

Despite having played just 14 minutes of Premier League football this season, Choudhury is a valuable member of the squad. He is good at winning the wall back, and the midfielder always gives his best when he steps on the pitch. With Leicester chasing a goal during the final stages in most league games, Choudhury hasn’t been presented with many opportunities to show his skills.

However, the former England youth international has been a good rotation option for Cooper. Choudhury has played a part in both of Leicester’s Carabao Cup matches and started against Walsall a couple of weeks ago. Boubakary Soumare has not been in the matchday squad for Leicester’s last two league games and is expected to come in and replace Choudhury on the bench.
