Liverpool will face recently relegated Leicester City in their first pre-season match in Singapore, on 30th July. This is Liverpool’s second visit to the country in a row where they will defend their Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy at the National Stadium at 10:00 HRS BST and will be broadcasted on LFC TV.
Leicester City and their departures
Leicester are going through an extremely tough period with them being now in the championship and losing a grip on all the top players they had. Worthy mentions include Harvey Barnes, James Maddison, Daniel Amartey, Youri Tieleman, Ayoze Perez and Jonny Evans with most preferring to stay in the premier league.
Leicester have recorded a win in their last two matches scoring three goals in the process and their last loss comes against Liverpool in the Premier League last season.
New manager Enzo Maresca would be looking to have a good pre-season so that they can qualify straight into the first division next term. Conor Coady and Harry Winks will no doubt play a major role in case Leicester does manage to make the cut.
Liverpool’s training camp in Germany
Liverpool’s camp in Germany came to an end after a thrilling 4-4 draw against SpVgg Greuther Fürth. The main concern during the match and also during their last match against Karlsruher is the defence which looked very shaky.
Luis Diaz started the match well by putting the opposition under pressure and scored a goal just beyond the 20th-minute mark. Liverpool lead the match by two Darwin Nunez goals in the second half but were stunned when Furth scored 3 goals within 10 mins. Salah had to put one in the 89th minute to make it even against the Bundesliga 2 team. Nonetheless a concerning match for all the Liverpool fans.
Conor Bradley was impressive, especially with his link-up play with Ben Doak. Alexis Mac Allister was very composed and is adapting well to the new Liverpool system. Gakpo played a little deep this time around and was brilliant and Ben Doak again gave Klopp a lot of reasons that he is ready to make the transition into more first-team minutes.
The defence in the second half looked horrible with Adrian, Gomez, Matip and Tsimikas looking sloppy and out of position. Jota missed a sitter but still posed a lot of problems in the first half.
Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot and Allison all made their first appearance in this pre-season and will feature more in the upcoming matches. Szobozslai didn’t make an appearance due to a slight knock he faced before the game, nothing serious. Thiago is yet to feature but will probably make an appearance against Leicester and so will the young Spaniard Stefan Bajčetić
