Every year in Fantasy Premier League there are players who perform far better than they are priced at. This year too we have dug into a list of a few players who are under-priced and can help us maximize every single penny we are going to spend on them.
Kieran Trippier (£6.5 million)
Pretty surprised with the price tag of Kieran Trippier here. The full-back scored 198 points last season and was the highest-scoring defender, way over than his compatriots.
The 32-year-old ageing full-back is still the best defender in Premier League and hasn’t lost his touch yet. Averaging 5.2 points per match, Trippier did not succumb to the burden of expectations set on him. With 1 goal and 9 assists under his belt, the full-back earned points in attack as well as defense as his team finished with a tally of 12 clean sheets.
Considering he hasn’t been much popular this season owing to the plethora of options on the offensive side where many FPL managers seem to be investing – he can just be a different option to consider.
Newcastle’s opening fixture doesn’t help either. One may think of avoiding him considering their first five games being against Aston Villa (H), Manchester City (A), Liverpool (H), Brighton (A), Brentford (H). But a man of big games, Trippier is a double-edged sword who can make or break your fantasy league and if you are adventurous enough to take risks, you surely will be rewarded in a game or two atleast.
Bukayo Saka (£8.5 million)
Bukayo Saka, the shining beacon of Arsenal, has proven to be a valuable asset for the team over the past two seasons. It’s surprising to see that his value has only increased by 0.5 million considering his impressive performances. Saka amassed 179 points in the 2021/22 season and followed it up with an outstanding 202-point season.
The versatility brought on the pitch by Saka and his assured game time make him a valued bet. Averaging 5.3 points per game, Bukayo Saka can also assure us bonus points thanks to his confirmed presence on the field. Arsenal have a fairly easy group of competitors to face. With four of their first five games being against teams that finished 10th or lower, we can expect Saka to have a huge say in the opening part of the season.

Phil Foden (£7.5 million)
One may question the selection of Foden considering his doubtful existence on the pitch. However, the days of Ilkay Gundogan are gone and with Bernardo Silva about to leave the club, Foden will be assured an increase in game time. Furthermore, Kevin De Bruyne’s hamstring injury will also enhance Foden’s prospects of starting matches, as the Belgian international will be unavailable for the early fixtures of the 2023/2024 season.
Despite playing only 1832 minutes last season, Foden still managed to accumulate 142 points in Fantasy Premier League. If he had played as many minutes as Saka, he could have finished with 230+ points. With increased chances of starting games for Manchester City, Foden should not be overlooked this season.
In the early fixtures, Manchester City faces Newcastle at home, which is their only tough game. Apart from that, City travel to Burnley, play Sheffield United at their home, and hosts Fulham before playing West Ham away. Phil Foden has a great chance of concreting his position by scoring/assisting against these four clubs.
Martin Odegaard (£8.5 million)
I would have easily spent £9.0 million to £9.5 million for a champion like Martin Odegaard. The stats do the talking for the former Real Madrid guy.
Odegaard, who achieved an impressive 4th position in the Fantasy Premier League last season with 212 points, has shown his ability to both score goals and provide assists. He finds himself in the company of top performers like Mohamed Salah, who also earned 239 points and has a price tag of £12.5 million. With the addition of Rice in the midfield and Havertz leading the attack, Odegaard’s captaincy is expected to benefit from their presence and he is poised to surpass his own performance once again.
Bryan Mbeumo (£6.5 million)
With Ivan Toney sidelined due to injury at the start of the season, Bryan Mbeumo will now carry the responsibility of scoring goals. Interestingly, Mbeumo has often stepped up and performed exceptionally well in the absence of Toney. He seems to thrive in the spotlight and we can anticipate him to showcase his skills and find the back of the net while leading the attack.
Mbeumo averaged 3.9 points per game last season and was impressive in the latter stages of the Premier League. We can expect him to carry his good run of form; score some goals for his team and points for his FPL managers.
Brentford’s first five fixtures: Spurs (H), Fulham (A), Crystal Palace (H), Bournemouth (H), Newcastle (A). A mouthwatering first four games for Mbeumo to make his mark.
Trent Alexander Arnold (£8 million)
TAA priced at £8 million is the highest-priced defender and arguably so. Last season, we saw an enhanced Arnold who was given a more attacking role in Klopp’s 3-2-2-3 formation which proved beneficial for him in the latter stages and Klopp may yet again deploy the same plans.
This will give the fans’ favourite defender more chances to score or provide assists. With 2 goals and 11 assists last season, Arnold displayed a tick of his attacking acumen and averaged 4.2 points per game.
Liverpool open their season against a struggling Chelsea and travel to Bournemouth next making TAA an interesting prospect to help us score FPL points.
