On what comes in as shocking news, AFC Bournemouth has bid farewell to Gary O’Neil too early too soon.
The manager has saved Bournemouth from being relegated this season and was expected to take the helm in the 2023/24 season as well. He however did not have an acceptable end to the season as he lost his last four games which has resulted in the club in taking this call.
We can confirm that we’ve parted company with head coach Gary O’Neil.
We’d like to place on record our thanks to Gary and wish him all the best for the future.

Meanwhile, the club owner publicly confirmed the club’s decision to bring in a new face in Andoni Iraola. Cherries chairman Bill Foley said: “We’re so excited to welcome Andoni to the club. With his contract in Spain coming to an end this summer we wanted to act quickly.
“He was highly sought after by other clubs across the continent, and his style of play has been an important factor in making this decision.”
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Andoni Iraola as the club’s new head coach.
Welcome to #afcb, Andoni 🤝

“His achievements in Spain have certainly been very impressive, and we’re confident that he is the right man to lead our next chapter.
“We have identified a number of targets in the transfer market, which along with our January additions will supplement our strong playing squad to give Andoni the best chance to consolidate our Premier League status and keep progressing.”
AFC Bournemouth have been fast in replacing Gary O’Neil who joined in as interim coach this August and was later signed permanently in November with Spanish coach Andoni Iraola. The Rayo Vallecano coach has been signed for a two-year deal after his contract with the Spanish club expired last season.
