Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have set their sights on signing a new center-forward this season, and they are now preparing to secure a loan deal for Manchester United’s Anthony Martial. He no longer fits in Erik ten Hag’s plans and may be enticed by the opportunity of joining Aston Villa, where he would receive regular playing time.

The potential move of Anthony Martial to Aston Villa would benefit both clubs. Villa is ready to offer around £250,000-a-week for the French international, with an option to make the transfer permanent later on. This financial boost for Manchester United could help fund the acquisition of players like Victor Osimhen, who is expected to command a fee of around £100 million.

Despite battling with injuries, Martial has had a decent season and is currently Manchester United’s third-highest goal scorer, netting 8 goals from 27 appearances. He sits behind Marcus Rashford, who has scored 29 goals, and Bruno Fernandes with 11 goals.

Aston Villa after having a decent season will be looking to strengthen their squad. Steven Gerrard’s exit and Unai Emery’s arrival has surely boosted up the squad which needs a forward to accompany and catalyze the presence of Watkins.

The Villans are vying for a versatile attacker and see the French international suiting the style of Unai Emery. The former Arsenal manager fills that Martial’s ability to play in the centre of the field and also as a winger when needed can boost up the depth of his squad. The 27-year-old may have been criticized for his lack of intent and laziness while pushing back but is equally adept with ball under his feet. He can dribble the defenders for fun, sneak past them, provide quality through balls when needed, and shoot in either corner of the post.

Martial may not be the player that will help Aston Villa fight for the top four places but is surely the one to help them keep their boat sailing in the top 10. He, therefore, is the best short-term target for Villa.
