A palpable buzz around the Premier League’s official fantasy game continues to grow as the league’s official Fantasy Premier League account announced the highly-anticipated price reveals of numerous players early Friday. With fans looking forward to their respective teams’ pre-season fixtures whilst anticipating the arrivals of several talents alongside watching the new additions before the start of the campaign, FPL managers, too, are likely to begin creating their first drafts with more clubs expected to reveal their players’ FPL prices over the coming weeks.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester United, and Wolves emerge amongst the first to have revealed the prices ahead of the campaign, with other clubs expected to follow suit. Moreover, with Man City likely to garner the attention of numerous FPL managers, the club’s assets are, once again, expected to rank amongst the best performing players next season.

Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m) emerges as the most expensive of City’s assets, with the highly-coveted Erling Haaland (£11.5) following suit in second place. An increment in the price for Joao Cancelo has seen the Portuguese full-back introduced at £7.0m while the likes of Jack Grealish (£7.0m) and Ruben Dias (£5.0) have witnessed a decrease in value, with both players seemingly affordable for those looking to capitalise on the team’s budget options next season.

Having registered the second-highest number of points (201) amongst defenders last season, Cancelo emerges as an essential pick ahead of the 2022/23 campaign. An exceptional season saw the full-back register 36 league appearances whilst having contributed one goal and 11 assists alongside 19 clean sheets within FPL during the 2021/22 season.

Besides boasting an incredible number across offensive and defensive metrics, Cancelo is expected to increase his tally of returns given the arrival of Haaland in the upcoming campaign. To gauge his impact, Cancelo registered the highest number of passes completed into the 18-yard-box (95) whilst also ranking second for passes completed into attacking third (266) amongst his teammates last season.

Moreover, having registered the second-highest number of goal-creating actions (16) whilst topping the charts for progressive carries (364) at the club last season, the full-back holds substantial promise for FPL managers. With Pep Guardiola likely to continue utilizing his attacking attributes, Cancelo emerges amongst the most essential of City’s FPL assets ahead of the upcoming campaign.

JACK GREALISH (MID, £7.0M)

Despite having endured an inconsistent campaign at City last season, the midfielder is likely to establish himself as a first-team regular considering the probability of Raheem Sterling (£10.0m) moving elsewhere this summer. Although Grealish featured sporadically – registering three goals and the same number of assists – the midfielder seems poised to have a notable 2022/23 campaign.

Although having been unable to register a commendable number of goal contributions, Grealish ranked second for expected assists (0.30xA) per 90 minutes alongside standing fifth for passes completed into the 18-yard-box (41) amongst his teammates last season. Moreover, despite making only 24 league starts, the midfielder ranked third for shot-creating actions (110) whilst having made the highest number of carries into the 18-yard-box (88) at the club last season.

With Grealish likely to be a significant part of City’s starting line-up next season, the England international emerges as a tempting option for FPL managers. Moreover, amongst the reasonably priced City’s players, Grealish emerges as the foremost option for those looking to draft an attack-oriented midfielder on a budget next season.

ERLING HAALAND (FWD, £11.5M)

Arguably, the most coveted of FPL assets for the season, Haaland emerges as an obvious draft for those looking to boost their output from their forward line in the upcoming campaign. Having registered a combined 29 goals and eight assists across all competitions last season, the 21-year-old Norwegian international is expected to flourish in a City team brimming with attacking talent throughout the 22/23 campaign.

Known for his exquisite finishing, pace, and physical dominance, Haaland features as an established talent likely to make a seamless transition to the Premier League. Having registered the second-highest number of expected goals (0.83xA) amongst Bundesliga players alongside a healthy number of shots (3.49) per 90 minutes, the striker is likely to improve on his tally of goal contributions under Guardiola’s tutelage in the upcoming campaign.

With Haaland expected to be the focal point of City’s attack next season, the striker is likely to end up bagging a satisfying amount of goals throughout the campaign. Given a lack of reliable options in the frontline, the Norwegian, thus, cements himself as an essential pick ahead of teammate Kevin De Bruyne next season.
