The summer transfer window this year is surely going to see high profile moves, but with the Covid-19 pandemic, the money involved for these deals may not be status worthy, as clubs around Europe have had to face losses for a whole year now due to the lack of fans in the stadium.
A club which surprised everybody in Europe last summer was Chelsea, as they went on to spend in excess of £200 million over a wide array of attacking talent and for defensive cover. However, while most people would like to believe that this money was funded by Chelsea’s oligarch Roman Abramovich, the truth was that Chelsea had received over £200 million in player sales from the likes of Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and several fringe players.
Chelsea made 7 statement signings last summer under the reign of Frank Lampard, but now, there is a new man at the helm in Thomas Tuchel, who will want to bring players of his ilk and players who can secure the bigger trophies for Chelsea.
There has been a mention of Erling Haaland, youngsters like Gabriel Menino and Kaio Jorge and now the name of a new attacker has emerged in the form of Paulo Dybala.
PAULO DYBALA AND TUCHEL: A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN?
Dybala is one of the biggest talents and names in world football and while he may not have performed as per the standards he was a couple of years ago, his technical ability on the ball coupled with his intensity on the pitch has caught the eye of Thomas Tuchel, somebody whose system works on technical skills and a 100% effort on the pitch.
He has only scored thrice for the Bianconeri this term with his season has been hampered due to countless injuries while he has also been a victim of the Coronavirus. However, last season, under the then Juventus manager, Maurizio Sarri (somebody who ironically switched clubs from Chelsea), Paulo Dybala scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions as Juventus secured their 9th straight Serie A title.
It is no coincidence that Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus is suffering in Serie A this season, as Paulo Dybala, for a long time, has been the creative cog of the Old Lady and while Cristiano Ronaldo and Federico Chiesa have tried their best, they can’t create the kind of performances Dybala can.
Dybala is somebody who has one of the best left-foots in world football currently, and he puts it to very good use. The Argentinian’s ability on the ball and his off-the-ball movement are a sight to behold as he can easily cause the best of defences several problems. Dybala also has the innate ability to drive with the ball at his feet and dribble past opponents for fun, while his passing is also very underrated, as he has achieved an 88% pass completion rate in almost all his seasons at Juventus.
He has been on Juventus’s transfer sale list for a while now and with his contract expiring on 30th June 2022, Juventus will be looking to offload the striker for a good sum of money.
‘We miss Paulo, he would have guaranteed us different attacking options and goals‘ – Pavel Nedved, Vice Chairman of Juventus, told DAZN. ‘He has a contract for one more year and I have nothing more to add to what [CEO Fabio] Paratici and president [Andrea] Agnelli have already said‘. With Cristiano Ronaldo staying at Juventus, the club’s only saleable asset is Paulo Dybala.
Chelsea currently lacks a goal threat and somebody who drives at oppositions and presses opposition lines all the time. While Mason Mount does possess a lot of these qualities, Paulo Dybala can also play up-front for the Blues and his technical skills will be a pleasure to watch in the Premier League.
Currently, sources close to The Metro, have identified Chelsea and Tottenham as clubs that are on red alert for any signs regarding Dybala’s exit this summer. Chelsea are ready to offer 45million Euros for the Argentinian, and with only a year left on his contract, Dybala might just finally make a move away from Juventus in a deal that will be a success for all parties involved.
