Leicester City are set to start their campaign away at the Hawthorns to newly promoted West Bromwich Albion, which can be a cagey affair as Leicester are going into the game with a long injury list.

Brendon Rodgers could potentially be without 7 first team players. Many players might have to end up playing out of position if the injured players aren’t match fit soon.

They could lineup in their season opener vs West Brom in a 3-5-2 formation with the back 3, and the two wing-backs dropping in when Leicester are out of possession to make their shape a back 5.

Here are some players that could feature for the Foxes: (3-5-2)

Goalkeeper: Schmeichel

Undoubtedly Leicester’s no. 1 shot stopper, Kasper Schmeichel has rarely missed any games and with a very thin backline in front of him for the first game of the season, he will have to be on top of his game.

Defenders: Castagne, Soyuncu, James Justin

Having to pick from a depleted squad Brendon Rogers will have to dig in deep to find a strong defensive line against West Brom. Soyuncu will be the first name on the team sheet with new acquisition Timothy Castagne playing on the right side of the back 3 and James Justin might get the start who played the full 90 minutes against Sheffield in a preseason friendly.

With the likes of Wes Morgan, Johnny Evans, Ricardo Pierera and Christian Fuchs either suspended or injured, this could be the strongest defensive pairing for Leicester without having to move any player out of position.

Midfielders: Barnes, Tielemans, Ndidi, Choudhary, Albrighton

The midfield 5 is also compromised with their most creative outlet James Maddison out with an injury. Tielemans will have to step up and take charge and supply the ball to Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez ahead of him.

Barnes also has a strong partnership with Vardy assisting a fair few to the frontman last season. Ndidi and Choudhary will sit deep to protect the rather shaky looking back three.

Forwards: Perez, Vardy

Last season’s Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy will be the main threat for the Foxes against West Brom. Ayoze Perez will be given the responsibility of linking up with Vardy.

The game may very well be a smash and grab with either team just narrowly getting over the line. One goal will be the difference in this tight opening fixture.

Leicester City’s Predicted Line-up: Schmeichel; Castagne, Soyuncu, James Justin; Barnes, Tielemans, Ndidi, Choudhary, Albrighton; Perez, Vardy
