Arsenal will reportedly demand for a fee around £27 million for midfielder Lucas Torreira if they were to sanction his sale this summer.
The Uruguay international has been heavily linked with a move away from the north London club after becoming out of favour under manager Mikel Arteta.
Italy has been the country touted as a possible destination for the midfielder with AS Roma and Fiorentina said to keen on his services.
However, according to a report from La Nazione, Fiorentina look the more interested club in acquiring the signature Torreira in the current transfer window. And the same publication adds that the Gunners will ask for a fee of €30 million (£27m), a fee that is said to be out of range for the Serie A side.
Daniele Prade, who was then the sporting director at Sampdoria during the midfielder’s time back in Italy is hoping for a reunion with the player.
Reports claim Prade is behind La Viola’s pursuit of Torreira this summer, but the Premier League club’s valuation of the midfielder could be a difficult ask for Fiorentina.
The 24-year-old earlier this month revealed in an interview that he would look to secure a move elsewhere should he not be given assurances over his current situation at the Emirates Stadium, adding that he is keen to play regularly.
“Last season I played continuously, this one less so,” he stated. “This year has been more complicated: I have lost continuity and confidence. I do not like this. At this age I need to play to be called up for the national team.”
Despite his desire to move on should his situation not change, the price tag on his head indicates that Arsenal see him to be a valuable asset at the club and would be open to keeping him for the upcoming season.
