The Guardian reporting that AS Roma are keen on signing Chelsea’s midfielder Jorginho this summer.

The report as also stated that Chelsea would be willing to allow Jorginho’s departure in a bid to balance their books following their commendable capture of Leipzig’s forward Timo Werner and Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech, with the Blues said to be targeting Bayern Leverkusen’s playmaker Kai Havertz.

Jorginho had been rumoured to be on his way to Italian club side Juventus, with the prospect of working under his former manager.

Tuttosport had reported about Jorginho’s signing being at an advance stage, with Juventus club director Fabio Paratici said to be in charge of the deal which will see Jorginho joining the Old Lady on a season long loan deal, with an option to be given a permanent contract.

But with sacking of Maurizio Sarri, further move for the Italian international midfielder seems to have been trashed, with the new manager and club legend Andrea Pirlo set to stamp his own philosophy and system in the team, as early as possible.

Conceding the fact that Jorginho could leave Chelsea this summer, the prospect of linking up with his former Chelsea team-mate Pedro seems to be an assured possibility, as the Spanish international also recently completed a move to AS Roma, after a successful five seasons with the Blues.

The prospect of being in a new environment, with the assurance of playing regularly will undoubtedly trigger Jorginho’s interest in a move to Roma, as the flamboyant midfielder is being starved for minutes under Chelsea’s manager Frank Lampard, who has preferred Kovacic, Mount and Kante in the midfield.

Jorginho, who is an astute passer of the ball, could fit into Roma’s attacking style of play, considering their great quality attackers.

As a deep-lying playmaker, he has the ability to control the game, dictating the tempo from deep position and setting up his teammates in more dangerous positions.

Despite his slender figure, he’s also capable of playing as a box-to-box midfielder. His techniques, vision, work-rate, interceptions and ability to cut off possession are the qualities he’s capable of replicating at AS Roma, regardless of the role he’s being tasked to play.

With Chelsea looking to move on some of their players this summer, Jorginho’s departure looks unsurprisingly to be one of Chelsea’s possible high profile sale in this summer transfer window, as AS Roma awaits agreement with Chelsea.
