Arsenal Transfer Roundup: Guendouzi exit, Willian signing backed, Magalhães imminent

Arsenal have been enjoying their victory in the final of the FA Cup against Chelsea, however, their backroom team must be back to work as they don’t have much time to flex their muscles in the transfer market. Hence, keeping up with the reports we bring to you the latest transfer rumours regarding the Gunners.

There have been many who have had doubts over the signing Willian by Arsenal, except for the coach and the hierarchy at the Emirates obviously. However, the Brazilian has found another likely suitor in Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who believes that the 32-year-old can contribute off the field too with his influence over younger players, especially Gabriel Martinelli.

Ian was quoted saying, “There’s that Brazilian connection and getting a player like Willian has got to be good for our young players because he’s a winner,” Wright said. “The more winners we can get in there the better. That’s only going to help Gabriel Martinelli, to have two experienced compatriots and Brazilian team-mates that he’s being involved with. I look at it from a playing point of view and it’s win-win for me.”

Arteta side have been in the market for a centre-back since a while now and it seems that their chase is at last going to end with the signing of Lille man Gabriel Magalhaes.

Many reports have claimed that the Brazilian could be on his way to the Emirates. While Napoli reportedly had a “gentleman’s agreement” with the Ligue 1 side when they sold Victor Osimhen, however, the Naples side hasn’t made the deal yet and it seems that the North London outfit will get their men if not for a late Napoli intervention.

Arsenal youngster Matt Smith has signed for League One side Swindon Town on a season-long loan deal. Smith has joined the likes of Zech Medley and Trae Coyle to leave the Emirates on loan.

The Gunners are reportedly keen to offload French youngster Matteo Guendouzi as reports have emerged that the 21-year-old was offered to Lyon in a player plus cash deal by Arsenal technical director Edu.
