According to report from Melissa Reddy, it was claimed that Liverpool and Norwich has failed to conclude an agreement for their talented left back Jamal Lewis.
This has now prompted the Premier League champions to make a move for Konstantinos Tsimikas, for a transfer fee reported to worth €13million (£11.75m) from Olympiacos. With the medical expected to be around early next week.
While @RealKevinPalmer solidified the speculation by disclosing that Liverpool’s Sporting director Michael Edwards had a meeting with Olympiacos General Manager Mrs Lina Souloukou on Thursday afternoon in Wolverhampton, in order to conclude a deal for their left back Konstantinos Tsimikas.
Napoli were reportedly in talks with Greek giant Olympiakos for Konstantinos Tsimikas some months ago, with the transfer already close to a conclusion in January.
While Leicester had also been interested in Tsimikas considering Ben Chilwell’s uncertain future with the Foxes, but the Reds have now taken advantage of both clubs inability to finalise a move for the Greek international defender, by leapfrogging their competitors in making a deal for the left back, following Olympiakos’ elimination from the Europa League competition on Monday.
Tsimikas is known to be an attacking full-back who has the flair to break forward and make quality crosses from the left flank.
The 24-year-old recently stated that: “When I started playing football, this was the dream of a lifetime. I am happy to have made it so far, yet this means nothing to me. I train hard to face such players.”
In June 2020, Tsimikas’ national team coach, John vant Schip, gave a good insight about the sort after left back.
He said: “He is a good player, a young defensive winger who plays very well. He had a great season always starting as a starter. I understand the interest of important clubs, if Napoli are among them it would be equally understandable.”
Since returning from his loan spells at Danish side Esbjerg and Eredivisie outfit Willem II, he has gone ahead to amass 74 appearances across the last two seasons, which includes 46 appearances during 2019/20.
But now, Tsimikas looks set to join The Reds ahead of next season, as it has shown that the lure of playing for a team of Liverpool’s calibre was too good for him to turn down.
