Pep Guardiola confident of Manchester City ban overturn

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is confident of his side overturning their Champions League two year ban.

The Manchester club are expected to find our their fate from the Court of Arbitration for Sport over their appeal against the decision to expel them from European competitions on July 13.

City were handed a ban from UEFA competitions for the next two years by Europe’s governing body in February after it emerged they wee guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play regulations. Their appeal was presented to CAS who heard it last month, with Premier League club optimistic of the potential judgement next week.

Guardiola said: “We are ready. I have a lot of confidence and trust with the people that we will be allowed to play the Champions League, because we want to be on the field during these years.

“On July 13 we will know the resolution, hopefully, for the club – all the workers, players and everyone here, staff – to try to continue growing up as a club in the next years.”

With the decision pending, City have a chance to win the Champions League this season, holding a 2-1 advantage over Real Madrid from their first leg encounter of the last-16 tie.

Though there has been no confirmation for the second leg yet, the Spanish coach is determined to be in good shape to face Zinedine Zidane’s team.
