With Willian’s contract up with Chelsea in the summer, it’s been an predominant tête-à-tête among the pensioners & the Brazilian press over whether the São Paulo paragon should extend his stay at the Stamford Bridge.
Willian has spoken to Gazeta Esportiva, not about the ongoing worldwide pandemic, but he has been verbal about his future at Chelsea.
“Everyone knows that my contract ends in July. As I said before, I had a conversation with Chelsea, they offered me a two-year contract, I asked for three and stopped there,” the 31-year-old told Gazeta Esportiva.
“It stayed that way. I really don’t know how to tell you what my future will be, if I’m going to stay, if I’m going to leave,”
With many rumours about Willian’s return to Corinthians back in Brazil, Gazeta Esportiva asked the 31-year-old if there’s a chance he could be heading back back home in the summer, but Chelsea’s Number 10 claims his plans are to stay in Europe.
“I don’t think about going back to Brazil now. I believe I have a market here in Europe. My goal is to stay here.”
The Brazilian outlet mentioned over how Corinthians supporters have been asking over being back at the club where he grew up & where it all started for him, but Willian insists he is in no intentions to head back to Brazil at the moment.
“I follow, whenever I can, I watch the games, when I can too. I receive messages asking for my return, I feel their affection too, but it is not my goal to return to Brazil.”
Gazeta uses a headline saying ‘If not renew with Chelsea, Willian already has a plan’. But that’s something directed to Corinthians fans, since it’s clear there’s nothing decided about his future in Europe.
