Predetermined to achieve big things since his very young age, Marcin Bulka announced his decision to swap London for Paris out of the Blues this summer.
Thing seemed perfect for young Bulka, penning a two-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain and immediately becoming the second choice to Keylor Navas after Gianluigi Buffon returned to Juventus and Alphonse Aréola went the other way on loan to Real Madrid when Navas arrived at Parc des Princes.
Bulka even made his senior debut for Paris, starting in a 2-0 win over FC Metz on 30th August.
But this honeymoon didn’t last long, Sergio Rico arrived on loan from Sevilla aftter not so good season with Fulham in the Premier League but that meant an experienced backup to Keylor and Marcin hasn’t made the bench ever-since.
Although Rico’s presence is short termed (although PSG do have an option to buy) – so it shouln’t interfere with Bulka’s progress and his chances of making it into the first team, and with the talent he has the future seems bright.
Now thats not only me saying, its something one of the agents who helped the deal go through believes. Yvan Le Mée had a word with ParisTeam to discuss more about Bulka’s move to Parc des Princes as he explains WHY Paris Saint-Germain was a better choice than Chelsea.
He said: “Because they’re one of the major clubs in Europe. When we started discussions, Buffon and Areola were still in Paris. For Bulka, it was interesting for him to work with them. You need to know that Marcin was looked at by many big European clubs when he was in Poland.
“At Chelsea, everything was planned for him to become the first-team starter, but then the Blues signed Kepa for seven years. Bulka then had no reason to stay there”.
Well that does make sense, despite being number three, PSG provides a better opportunity for Bulka – as Rico is just on loan and Navas isn’t getting any younger at 32 – it seems better than siting behind 25-year-old Kepa at the Stamford Bridge on a seven-year contract.
