Although Robertson does make a compelling argument based on his performances but McGinn edges him only because he has been amazing in a lackluster Aston Villa side. A side which has managed to win just once in the Premier League campaign so far.
McGinn has been absolutely killing it in the Premier League. Of the 7 matches he has featured he has walked away with the Man of the Match award 4 times, which in itself speaks how important he is to this Aston Villa side. He is Aston Villa’s top scorer so far. The Villa man has been responsible for half of the goals his team has scored. He has managed to score 3 goals from midfield and create one.
According to a certain Alan Shearer if Aston Villa are to achieve their goal of staying in the Premier League this season then, John McGinn will play a vital role. Shearer said- “He showed great energy in midfield and a superb eye for a pass. He has become invaluable to Villa’s prospects of staying up,” after the midfielder’s impressive performance against Burnley over the weekend. He earned himself a place in Shearer’s team of the week after scoring his 3rd goal of the season.
McGinn is slowly and steadily becoming a player to watch out for. From his incredible vision to his goal scoring ability, he has been showing the Premier League how good he is.
