The German football coach Jurgen Klopp revealed in a recent interview that he learnt English through watching the famous American sitcom – F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
Now he can speak English fluently without any trouble but reveals that he learned the basic knowledge by watching the comedy sitcom.
“[It was] watching Friends, because it’s easy to understand,” he told BBC 5 live.
He instead prefer to F.R.I.E.N.D.S than English movies as the former had easy language to pick up and he praised the sitcom by telling it is the easiest solution for Germans to learn English.
“You try to watch movies, because that’s next, because in movies they speak dialect, stuff like that, and it’s not really well pronounced.’’
“Trash talk and all this stuff and you have to follow.”
“The easiest to follow for Germans in English is Friends. It’s an easy conversation. You can understand pretty much each word pretty early, so that’s why we use that.”
He was asked as to whom he likes the most out of the three male characters in the show. To sheer surprise, he pointed out that he was much impressed by the girls than boys. However accepts that he could be referred as Joey’s character yet in a more smarter way. Only he was not that impressive in talking to girls the way Matt Le Blanc (Joey) used to.
“No, no, no, no. I like the girls more than the boys,” he said.
“But I cannot play a girl.
“Joey? Yeah… Unfortunately, I’m a bit smarter than the Joey role but my talk with the girls was never as good as his.
“‘How you doing?’ It was obviously not that easy in my life!”
