Former Bayern full-back Willy Sagnol is convinced by Bayern’s ongoing negotiation with Manchester City for Leroy Sane. The former French International thinks that Sane would be a ‘disaster’ for the German giants.

Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich is a neverending transfer saga. Bayern have been trying to sign the German winger from the past two seasons. The Bavarians were close to signing him last season but Sane got injured in the Community Shield game and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Willy Sagnol donned the Bayern jersey for nine seasons between 2000-2009 and considers Sane’s signing a mistake. In an interview with RMC Sport, Sagnol revealed that Havertz will be a better fit for Bayern’s team than Sane.

“He doesn’t correspond at all to Bayern in terms of his character,” Sagnol told RMC of the 24-year-old winger.

“He’s someone whose form is very inconsistent and who is very withdrawn.

“For me, he doesn’t suit the club at all. He’s had a lot of problems at Manchester City and with the national team.

“We’re talking about a cost of €80 million (£72m/$89m). In that case, I would prefer to put another €20m down and sign Kai Havertz.”

Sagnol’s comments are not unwarranted and Sane has previously blamed for attitude problems under Pep Guardiola. Adding to that his injury history at Manchester City. However, Bayern have made their mind and are on the negotiation table with Manchester City.

The club’s chiefs are hopeful of a deal before the end of the upcoming transfer window. Flick’s Bayern have now won all four games since the resumption of Bundesliga and are on course to win their record eighth consecutive Bundesliga title.
