West Ham are interested in bringing Robin Koch, who plays as a defender for SC Freiburg, according to report from Daily Star.

The 23-year-old German international has been on the radar of some English Premier league clubs in the past, but no move was materialized.

Koch has been playing in Bundesliga for the last three years, which has earned him vast experience for his age. He’s a player that shares similarities with Spain international Javi Martinez with his versatility as a defender and also a defensive midfield cover when needed. Standing at 6ft 3in gives Robin a great advantage in winning more aerial challenges with impressive successful rate.

His impressive performances has led to him receiving a call-up to Germany’s senior national team against Estonia and Argentina.

Koch is very tidy in possession and has great timing which has led to him having fewer cards to his name so far. Impressively, he’s yet to be sent-off in a match since his professional debut.

The possibility of Robin Koch leaving Freiburg has been huge, due to the fact that his contract will come to an end in 2021 and Freiburg will want to cash in on him this summer in order to not risk him loosing for nothing.

Therefore, transfer fee should be minimal and realistic to enhance a deal from potential buyer like West Ham.

It is known that West Ham have been looking for ways to improve their squad, particularly their defense, and the high possibility of Koch’s signing will be a major improvement, which they’ve been craving for.

Will West Ham get their man? – Since there haven’t been much interest in him recently, West Ham should be able to conclude the deal swiftly before competitions for his signature sets in.
