Fulham academy sensation, Sonny Hilton could perhaps be one of the world’s hottest prospects in the years to come considering some of his ever so special performances with the U23 squad.

Born in the Merseyside region of the English land, Sonny began his career with the Tranmere Rovers when some of the officials of the academy took heed to his game and were interested to sign the talent swiftly. As a midfielder, the player enjoys attacking on the pitch and remains up front most of the time to create chances.

During his initial days, the attacking midfielder also adapted to playing the central role as his manager could see the potential in him to create chances from the centre and draw back on the pitch to help defensively when necessary.

Fulham’s scouts had been alerted about his game and were left very impressed, making it easier for them to introduce Sonny to their academy back in 2016. The young sensation was groomed under the management of the Cottagers and his game began to develop to a more professional level.

Having shown leadership qualities, the management decided to bank on him to lead the U18 team which was of huge success on Sonny’s part. His most notable game was against Reading, where in the Cottagers ran over the latter 7-0 which included a hat-trick by the skipper.

Before taking up the captaincy of the U23 squad during the 2021-22 season, he made his first loan move to Finnish club TPS Turku where he yet again showed the qualities that an attacking midfielder must possess.

Upon his return with the Cottagers, he appeared in 26 matches, scoring on nine occasions, and provided 12 assists for his club this season. Flourishing as a winger on the right flank, he relished back-to-back impressive performances on the pitch which helped the club gain promotion from the second division.

Now the newly-promoted Premier League club could hope for his performances to remain consistent with the best of his years still ahead of him. The young prospect has instilled confidence in the manager and the fans after having shown tremendous leadership skills coupled with his enthralling performances on the pitch.

With the academy sensation adapting to a more versatile role on the field playing as an attacking midfielder to dropping back to defend, his services could be of an advantage to the club to help compete with the other elite teams of the PL.

Sonny certainly has a long way to go and flourish in the English top-flight, but it appears as though with the level that he operates at the moment, he could definitely be the next big thing in the world of football. One mustn’t be surprised if other European clubs take interest in him and make an offer for his services assuming he continues his blistering form.
