Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is on loan at Leeds United and Arsenal’s hierarchy has grown frustrated with Nketiah’s spell at Elland Road.
Nketiah has found regular football hard to come by under Marcelo Bielsa despite scoring 5 goals in all competitions for Leeds. He has also performed well for England under-21 side by scoring 8 goals in 8 appearances. Patrick Bamford is being used as the first choice striker by Marcelo Bielsa and although he has performed well, Arsenal will be disappointed that one of their potential future star is sitting on the bench for a huge chunk of time.
With the January transfer window approaching, Sheffield United gaffer Chris Wilder has already claimed that he expects some incomings and outgoings in January. And Blades are hunting for a good striking option, but do not have funds in hand after spending a huge chunk on signings in the summer. This makes Nketiah a very good loan option from a fellow Premier League club.
Billy Sharp hasn’t been used regularly by the Blades this season. He has made minimal appearances and his future at the club is yet to be determined. This opens the door for Nketiah.
Nketiah and Sharp are very similar players. Both know how to move in and around the box. Both players are great at finding spaces and great at finishing. Meaning that Sheffield could get a younger version of Billy Sharp in Eddie Nketiah.
Although Chris Wilder is currently using Lys Mousset and David McGoldrick as first-team strikers, he has already spoken on changes being made in the team due to the grueling schedule coming up and needs all his strikers to offer him something different.
Nketiah will surely have to fight his way to the first-team at Bramall Lane, however, with his great qualities and variety, he might be an interesting signing for the Blades. And given the form that Chris Wilder’s men are in this season, Nketiah could see an opportunity that he couldn’t refuse.
