Manchester City have been banned from the next two editions of UEFA Club Competitions by UEFA for “serious breaches” of UEFA’s club licensing and financial fair play regulations. The ban is set to cause chaos at Manchester City, as they have so many individuals who would leave club without Champions League football. These individuals include the head coach, Pep Guardiola and many of their star players in Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero, Ederson Moares and Gabriel Jesus.
Here we look at some of them individually to figure out what the future may hold for these Superstars:
Pep Guardiola:
It’s a much-stated fact that the Spaniard is regarded as one of the best, if not the best, coaches in the world. He has already won the Premier League twice in his three years at the Etihad Stadium. In the process, he has succeeded in building one of the finest attacking sides that the game of football has ever seen.
However, he has himself conceded that his time at Manchester City would be judged as a failure if he fails to win the Champions League this season. And with no chance of achieving the feat with a two-year ban lodged against them, he may well be looking at his potential options.
Reports have already linked him with a move to Serie A champions Juventus. As the Old Lady faithfuls have themselves been targeting the Champions League for years but has failed to get their hands on the eluded trophy yet. With a squad as strong as theirs, Pep Guardiola might just prove to be the missing piece of their puzzle.
The fact that Maurizio Saari hasn’t had the best of the starts at Bianconeri, and he might just have to make way for the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss unless Manchester City top brass could figure out a way to avoid the ban.
