Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on his team’s efforts as an “incredible achievement” after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Manchester City handed the title to Liverpool for their first league title in 30 years.

With seven games to go, Klopp has led the Reds to a remarkable feat in their history and in the history of the Premier League.

The German also hailed the support from Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard who laid down the path for him.

“No I have no words. Its unbelievable its much more than I ever thought was possible with this club. Its absolutely incredible,” he said. “Knowing how much Kenny supported us, for Stevie (Gerrard) who had to wait a long time. This is all built on your soul Kenny and the likes of Stevie. I admire you and its easy for me to motivate the team because of our great history.

“Its unbelievable it was really tense the City game. I didn’t want to be involved really but you watch it and then you are involved.

“You hope with the big chances that Chelsea had, then the penalty situation and stuff was quite intense. But it is an incredible effort from my players for the last two to three years its exceptional and pure joy for me to coach them.”

Klopp also highlighted the importance of not having to wait for 30 years to lead the club to their first league triumph, as he added he has done it in less than five years at Anfield.

He added: “I didn’t wait thirty years I was here for four-and-a-half years but we didn’t have a chance before last year so this is the second year.

“But this is a relief because of the three month interruption, no one knew how it would go on. Then you don’t know how you will come back, each game is difficult.

“I was very happy last night so it gave me the feeling we will be fine.

“But tonight I can only say its for you, its for you out there. Its incredible. I hope you stay at home, go out the front of your house if you want, but do no more and celebrate it. We do it together and its a joy to do it for you.

“My coaching staff, I couldn’t be more proud of what they did. What everyone at Liverpool did, its just a really exciting ride.

“We watched the game together and the players look like they have a good few years in their legs so we will try but for tonight we will enjoy this moment. Its more than I ever dreamed of.”
