According to the various reports, Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock is heading to Newcastle for his imminent Medical. It was claimed earlier that the Magpies are hoping for a midfield signing on deadline day, with the 21-year-old being their prime target.

The 21-year-old has made just two starts in the top flight this season, and he was on the bench against Manchester United on Saturday. Willock has been highly impressive in the Europa League campaign for the Gunners where he has notched up a highly impressive three goals and as many assists in five games.

The Magpies boss Steve Bruce admitted earlier this week that he is hoping to bring in one or two players on loan. Bolstering the midfield is one of Bruce’s top priorities this month. Newcastle has been heavily linked with a move for Hamza Choudhury but an injury to Ndidi and their recent loss to Leeds have changed the scene now it seems they’ll need him to make up the numbers and now it looks like the Magpies have turned their attention elsewhere.

Arsenal has just brought in Martin Ødegaard on loan from Real Madrid, so it makes sense that Mikel Arteta might be keen to trim down his squad at the moment. A little more playing time in the top flight could be ideal for the youngster now, and he will enjoy more opportunities in this Newcastle side.

An absolute no-brainer for Newcastle especially this late in the transfer window. He is a very highly-rated talented young player who is admired by many at the Emirates. He has the experience of playing in the Premier League having made multiple appearances for Arsenal over the past couple of years.

A hardworking dynamic midfielder who can carry the ball, plays a direct style of football, and shows up for a goal every other time. Joe Willock has now and then been compared to Aaron Ramsey.

He can provide something different to the midfield with his energy and intense pressing ability. Also, he pops up with goals now and then. He could be an immense option alongside an industrious Hayden and would allow Shelvey more time on the Ball to affect the game.
