Not long ago that Willian played in the Premier League with Chelsea where he had a fantastic 7-year career before an unceremonious move to Arsenal. With 37 goals and 33 assists, the Brazilian won two Premier League, one FA cup, one EFL cup, and the Europa League. He once won the Chelsea’s Player of the Year and is a two time Player’s Player of the Year winner. The move to Arsenal came after a not-so-effective final season at Chelsea following which he moved to his boyhood club Corinthians which proved to be even worse with the winger having just a goal in 44 appearances.
However, there is a possibility that he makes a sensational return to the Premier League with the newly promoted Fulham which could be completed owing to a European return release clause. The Brazilian would provide the Cottagers some much-needed Premier League experience as they fight to avoid being in a relegation fight this year.
Harry Wilson is expected to miss the first few games of the season due to injury, while Fabio Carvalho already left Fulham for Liverpool earlier in the summer. Manor Solomon and Andreas Pereira were one of the wise additions made by the Cottagers, although a move for Willian would significantly improve their offensive options.
Despite being past his best, Willian possesses serious dribbling and dead ball skills and could be a great addition to this Fulham team. He is a manager’s dream, capable of playing in multiple systems, and is a reliable creator in all. His capacity to contribute to the second stage of build-up is one of the most important traits. Since he is so comfortable in possession, Willian can help his side advance. He almost never loses the ball in a careless situation, which is quite helpful if you’re the major counter-attacking danger for your team.
Willian excels at being a terrific ball carrier, a major skill as there are very few wide players who are both this direct and comfortable in possession. Additionally, it’s a bonus that he can create shots for himself and his teammates by dribbling and passing. He is at ease both with the ball at his feet and without it, which makes it simpler for him to switch to either wing. Regardless of which wing he plays, the Brazilian begins in the half spaces and has two duties:
- Generate space while dribbling allows him to drive into the heart of the defence of the opposition.
- Bring in the opposition’s defenders for overloads.
Willian’s defensive behaviour is what draws the most attention. Because of this, Barcelona was interested in signing him, and Fulham wants him to join. The Cottagers have a decent squad and with new additions, they are not favourites to be relegated squad. Willian’s addition can only mean good things for the hopeful Premier League club.
