Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that his side are totally focused on the Merseyside Derby and revealed his team’s work ahead of the game.
The Toffees are set to resume their Premier League campaign with an important fixture against Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby. They have been allowed by the authorities to host the game at the Goodison Park. Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he is pleased by the hard work of his squad ahead of the game and insists that his side are 100% focused on the game.
“We are focused only on training and in the past week we concentrated more on the tactical aspect,” Ancelotti told his club’s official site. “We know that on Sunday we are going to play a very important game, so now we can say we have a 100 per cent focus.
“The players improved their aerobic conditions a lot since we started to have open training on the full pitch and in the past 10 days made a lot of progress.”
Everton were winless in their last three games prior to the lockdown and will be looking for a positive result ahead of the game. Ancelotti’s side sits 12th in the Premier League table and have 37 points from 29 games. After the derby, more important fixtures awaits for Everton as Ancelotti’s side face Leicester and Tottenham in the coming weeks.
Liverpool needs just two wins to seal their first Premier League title. If they manage to win the derby and City lose against Arsenal, the Reds would seal the title at the Goodison Park itself.
