Conor Gallagher, currently 20, is an English prodigy tipped to be one of the best in his position at the Cobham. He has been a part of the Chelsea academy since 8 with his latest contract expiring in 2021.

He was at a loan to Charlton Athletic during the 2019 season and was recalled in January 2020 by Chelsea after which he went to the Championship club, Swansea on loan for the rest of the season. Gallagher played 45 games combined for the two clubs where he had 17 goal contributions. He is tipped to be one of the future stars for The Blues. He was named as the Academy Player of the Year in 2019 and was also named in the Europa League final team in the same season.

Conor seems to be in contention for Chelsea but they want him to have a loan spell in the Premier League after signing a new contract to a team where he gets some decent minutes to prove his worth. There were reports of him moving to Crystal Palace but The Eagles rather moved for their old striker, Michy Bathuayi. This led to deal falling apart for Gallagher due to Premier League’s rule of allowing only one player from a top tier team to the other.

However, newly promoted West Brom lead the race to get the signature of Gallagher on a temporary basis. He is expected to undergo his medical at West Brom in coming days. This deal will be best for all the parties as Gallagher could develop under Bilic at West Brom where he faces the most elite competition in form of Premier League.

Chelsea, known for their huge loan army, currently have seventeen players on loan across Europe and still could let go many in this transfer window.
