Seven-time champions Egypt will engage host nations Cameroon in the semi-final of the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Cameroon have set their eye to win the trophy on their home soil and have produced great performances, lightning up the competition so far. Once again, there is a tough huddle to cross when they meet Egypt on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022. The host nation is expected to progress.

Vincent Aboubakar has now become the first player in the 21st century to score more than five goals in a single Africa Cup of Nations tournament. He has scored six goals so far in the competition and is a contender for both players of the tournament and the top scorer of the competition. He would cause a lot of problems to the Egyptian side who will be without Ahmed Hegazi.

Mohamed Salah on the other hand will be the player who will once again conjure magic for the Pharaohs. He became the talk of the town after producing a great performance in the quarter-finals against Morocco last Sunday. He contributed to all two goals on the day scoring one and assisting one. Salah has two goals in the competition.

This is certainly an interesting battle between these two top strikers. The question is, who would be more influential to his side’s progression on the day.

Karl Toko Ekambi is the closest player on the top scorers’ chart in the ongoing AFCON with five goals. He has been decent in the competition. The forward’s involvement in the game would be a huge advantage to the host nations. The Olympique Lyonnais forward is anticipating winning the top scorers award despite being second on the top scorers’ chart.

Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim Hassan popularly known as Trezeguet gave the Egyptians the match-winner against Morocco and he’s a huge threat to the defence of Cameroon. He has a goal in the competition. Coming against host nations Cameroon, the Aston Villa man have an opportunity to increase his goal tally in the competition.

This would be a key battle in the midfield. Both players have been very good and solid for their teams. Anguissa has established himself as a key member in this Cameroonian Side. He has featured in all games. Another opportunity has emerged for the player to show his technical and tactical abilities once again. His passing accuracy has been good for the Indomitable Lions. He makes interceptions as well and has been on top of his game in the competition.

Mohamed Elneny of Arsenal has been the driving force and engine behind the Egyptian Side. He has the trust of his coach and has produced great performances for his team. Breaking the opponent’s play and making a lot of interceptions has been the major abilities of the experienced midfielder. He has featured in all games for the Egyptians.
