Bayern Munich have reportedly offered the number 10 jersey to their top target Leroy Sane as they continue their pursuit for the German. The number 10 shirt is currently worn by Coutinho, who is likely to leave Bayern after this season as his loan ends.

The number 10 jersey has been made iconic by several Bayern legends in the past, such as Brian Laudrup, Lothar Matthaus and Arjen Robben, who retired last season. According to Bild, the Manchester City winger is ready to accept a salary cut of 30% in order to join the Bavarians.

Last week, Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge quashed all the claims that Bayern and City were only ‘€10 million apart’ last weekend. Bild reports that both clubs have not yet started direct negotiations, although they confirm that the Bavarians are preparing an initial bid of €40 million. This suggests that City are willing to let Sane leave the Etihad after this season. Leroy Sane will be in the last year of his contract next season and the Citizens would want a fair price for him rather than him becoming a free agent next year.

Last week, Bayern striker Lewandowski said that ‘Sane could certainly help Bayern’.

“There is a lot of speculation. I can only say that he is a great player with great skills who can harmonise very well with his team-mates,” Lewandowski said.

“Not just in the Premier League or the Champions League, we’ve already seen what he could do at Schalke. He could certainly help us find new solutions in our game.”
