For every young player been linked with a top club, it’s always a sign of a raw gem that’s about to be unfold. Most especially when the club is called Arsenal, many young footballers would be grateful to have been privileged to be linked to such big club who has the habit of nurturing young talents and also handing them a way up as a professional footballer.
Arsenal are reportedly said to be weighing up a move for French teenager Kays Ruiz-Atil, who was at Barcelona’s prestigious academy called ‘La Masia’ from the age of seven.
At the age of 12 while at La Masia, Ruiz was already considered to be a far better player amidst his age group and was even labelled the new Messi.
In 2017, Ligue 1 giant Paris Saint-Germain completed the signing of the then 15-year-old Barcelona youth player on a three-year youth contract, leaving La Masia after the Spanish giants were punished by FIFA, imposing a transfer ban on the club for their illegal signings of multiple young players.
“The youth contract marks a new stage in the training and progress of the young player,” PSG said in a statement.
“This contract also serves to deepen even further the bond of trust between the playmaker and his club of two years.”
At that time, Ruiz however became the second Barca player after Brazilian star Neymar Jr, to make a switch from Barcelona to French giant in the same transfer period.
The Lyon strain was said to have been persuaded along with his family by PSG chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi himself, to join Ligue 1 Champion over his hometown club Lyon.
A controversial signing from Barcelona but big things were undoubtedly expected from the young talented midfielder.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder have been on amateur contract with Les Parisiens which runs until this summer 2020.
With limited opportunity been given to the youngster, especially with the first team, Ruiz was reported to have fired a warning at PSG, revealing that he’s prepared to leave the French club this summer.
Around Novermber 2019, it was reported by Global Soccer that; Kays Ruiz faces being cut loose by PSG‘s academy.
In an interview, Ruiz said, “After me, if PSG does not want me to train with the pros, there are other clubs.
“It will not end at PSG. There are clubs that have offered me to train with the pros and go down to the reserves for matches.”
However, according to a report from L’Equipe, it was revealed that Ruiz had been encouraged to find himself a new club by PSG sports director Leonardo, as he won’t be retained long-term.
Arsenal are now reportedly in the chase for the youngster who is deemed to have a bright future as a professional footballer regardless of his early career hiccup.
With Arsenal boasting of great talents in their academy (testament to the number of academy graduates playing with the first team), and with the opportunities been awarded to their talented youngsters, this might convince Ruiz in signing for the Gunners so as to keep his dream alive and work in an environment that guarantees a chance to train and learn from top senior players at the club.
