Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side find themselves in another major slump for the second time in this season as they are in midst of a three-match streak without a win and this could extend against a rejuvenated Newcastle United under Steven Bruce, as he is looking to ensure another season in the Premier League for the Magpies.

After the catastrophe at Villareal in their last Europa League fixture, Mikel Arteta would surely not be looking to experiment again with his formation and might well go with his trusted 4-2-3-1 formation.

Goalkeeper: It was a return to form for Arsenal No.1, Bernd Leno, in Spain against Villareal with the German keeper making some key saves to keep the Gunners in the tie and that should be enough to convince Mikel Arteta to let him keep his place in the side ahead of Mat Ryan.

Defence: With a not-so-impressive performance against Villareal for the captain on the day, Rob Holding, Mikel Arteta could be tempted into replacing the Englishman for the returning David Luiz. Pablo Mari might also be rested for the all-important match against Villareal. Hector Bellerin has been making appearances in the Premier League and he would be expected to stage a return too with Granit Xhaka keeping his place at left-back.

Midfield: Thomas Partey should again start for Arsenal against Newcastle while Dani Ceballos could be dropped for Mohamed Elneny after a disastrous performance against Villareal. Martin Odegaard should be expected to start as the attacking midfielder for Arsenal.

Forward line: Bukayo Saka might be rested with Gabriel Martinelli the favorite to replace him. Nicolas Pepe should keep his place after a string of impressive performances while club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameynag starts at center-froward.

Arsenal Predicted XI vs Newcastle United: Leno; Bellerin, Luiz, Gabriel, Xhaka; Partey, Elneny, Odegaard; Pepe, Aubameyang, Martinellil;
