Leicester City conceded two late goals in a 4-2 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners dominated the first half, with Gabriel Martinelli scoring the opener and Leandro Trossard adding the second just before halftime. Leicester fought back strongly in the second half. James Justin scored from a set piece in the half’s opening minutes and got his second with a world-class volley.

With Arsenal chasing a winner, the Foxes defended hard, with Mads Hermansen having an outstanding game. However, a cruel deflection of Wilfred Ndidi in the 94th minute broke the deadlock, with Arsenal adding a fourth late on to take all three points.

Here’s how we rated the Leicester City players.

Leicester City player ratings vs Arsenal

Mads Hermansen – 10 (MOTM)

Simply outstanding. Had it not been for Hermansen, the scoreline would have been much worse. He made save after save to keep Leicester in the game but could do nothing about the four goals that went past him.

James Justin – 7

Scored both of Leicester’s goals, with the second a phenomenal first-time volley. However, Justin struggled defensively, with Martinelli getting the better of him multiple times.

Wout Faes – 7

Was solid at the back, clearing plenty of crosses. There was a lot of defending for Faes to do and he completed his defensive duties fairly well.

Caleb Okoli – 7

Another strong performance at the back for Okoli. He was a strong physical presence in the Leicester box and positioned himself to clear away the threat on multiple occasions.

Victor Kristiansen – 6

With Arsenal dominating the game, Kristiansen barely advanced out of Leicester’s half. The Danish fullback defended well though, a noticeable improvement from his previous games.

Harry Winks – 5

Winks was poor defensively and lost Trossard for Arsenal’s second, which caused Hermansen to have a go at him. He was okay in possession and showed composure in tight spaces, as usual.

Oliver Skipp – 4

Invisible. Did nothing of note and was a bit reckless with his tackling while on a yellow card.

Wilfred Ndidi – 7

Another good performance by the Nigerian. Again, he was excellent defensively, making plenty of tackles and interceptions all over the pitch. Ndidi was decent in possession and delivered a fantastic cross for Justin’s wondergoal. Unlucky to score an own goal.

Stephy Mavididi – 4

Didn’t track Jurrien Timber for Arsenal’s opener and was crowded out and dispossessed quickly when he got the ball. Not the Emirates Stadium return he would have hoped for.

Jamie Vardy – 6

He looked decent in the first ten minutes. Showed good awareness to find Justin and was effective with his one-touch layoffs. However, he was hardly involved in the game afterwards, losing the physical battle against William Saliba.

Facundo Buonanotte – 6

A spirited display by the youngster. Barely involved before halftime but looked much better in the second half. He assisted Justin’s goal and was always direct when he had the ball.

Jordan Ayew – 4

Ruined a late opportunity with a very heavy touch.

Bilal El Khannouss – 6

Pressed well and almost found Bobby Decordova-Reid with a wonderful through ball.

Abdul Fatawu, Odsonne Edouard, Bobby Decordova-Reid – N/A

Came on too late to make an impact.
