Philippe Coutinho has been linked with about all the elite English clubs, and as it appears – A return to England might well be on cards. And Chelsea have an upper-hand on their English counterparts to land Couthino – which seems highly probable as of now.

Philippe has not been able to recreate his Anfield form since his £142 million move to Barcelona & Frank Lampard, an attacking midfielder viz. Coutinho in his time, is keen on bringing the Brazilian to Stamford Bridge & try refurbishing his form.

With Eden Hazard leaving last season, and Willian potentially leaving once this season ends, Chelsea are looking to bring in a creative playmaker to fill in the void and with Coutinho, they will be getting a top class player with experience of having played in the Premier League and the hunger of competing at the highest level.

Barcelona are looking to get rid of Coutinho’s services and Bayern Munich are highly unlikely to sign him, leaving the doors open for a possible switch to the Premier League with Chelsea.

Coutinho had a very successful time at Liverpool with a return of fifty four goals and forty five assists over the course of the 4 years at Anfield. He struggled massively at Barcelona, and though he had one or two spectacular performances, due to the constant change in his position and playing under a manager which saw Barca play some of their worst football in recent years, he never really settled at Camp Nou.

His move to Bayern saw him scoring nine goals and eight assists this season, a very good return for playing in a new league and a whole new team. Chelsea have struggled to score goals from midfield this season and Coutinho has the ability to shoot and succesfully test the keeper regularly while also setting up chances for other players.

Coutinho is a blend between a left winger and a midfielder, having played at left-wing in Liverpool but his best position is probably at number 10. He is incredibly comfortable on the ball, has silky passing, great vision and is a direct attacking threat. He has great awareness in and around the opponents box, making him a deadly threat as he often chooses to cut in from the left and bend his shot round the keeper from the edge of the box.

Despite not being blessed with terrific pace, Coutinho uses his dribbling and quick feet to get out of situations and has the potential to set up deadly counter-attacks with fast build up, something Chelsea are very well known for.

Under Lampard, Coutinho will be most suited to play in the traditional number 10 role, coming in from the left hand side setting up play for Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham and linking up with Hakim Ziyech from the right. Chelsea will really benefit from his creative spark by adding more quality to their attack.

Coutinho will fit perfectly into Lampard’s system at Chelsea, with quick build up plays and high pressing , and his previous experience in England will help him adapt quicker to the fast paced Premier League.
