Manchester United have entered the race to sign free agent Christian Eriksen.

The Danish International made a comeback to football with Premier League first-timers Brentford and he was stunning to watch in those five months. Christian had to leave the then Serie A champions Inter Milan as the league’s strict regulations for players using an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator which he had to be implanted after suffering a cardiac arrest during a game at Euro 2020 against Finland at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.

After training for six months at the facilities of his youth academy team OB in Odense, Eriksen was made an offer by Brentford for a six-month deal. He shone during his stint at Brentford Community Stadium scoring once and assisting four times.

His highlight of this short stay was against then reigning European champions Chelsea. After undeservingly going down 1-0 by a fantastic Rudiger strike, Vitaly Janelt quickly responded by scoring an equalizer and then Christian Eriksen showed why he was considered to be one of the best-attacking players in the league during his stay at Tottenham Hotspur. The Bees demolished the Blues 4-1 at Stamford Bridge on what was considered to be a memorable day in the history of the club. Eriksen showed that he is once again ready if any big club wants to take a chance on him.

That surely caught the attention of 20-time English champions, with new incoming manager Erik ten Hag marking the midfield area as a first priority to improve. The club lost Jesse Lingard,  Juan Mata, Nemanja Matić and Paul Pogba all for free and now they are left with Fred, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, and van de Beek and youngster Hannibal Mejbri as the only available midfield options. So signing Eriksen takes off a huge creative burden on Bruno Fernandes and it will add another dimension of attacking play if the Red Devils were to convince the player to sign for them.

Sir Alex Fergusson was a huge admirer of the player back when the Dane used to wear the red and white stripes of Eredivisie giants AFC Ajax only for him to sign with Tottenham Hotspur.

It remains to be seen where Eriksen sees his future as there is strong interest from Newcastle and former side Tottenham with Brentford also hopeful of signing the 115-capped Danish International to a long-term deal.
