Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has claimed that he sees Wolves as a club that the Blades should emulate.

With big investments from the owners and under the leadership of Manager Nuno Santo, Wolves have cemented their place in the Premier League and are regarded as one of the contenders for the “Best of the Rest” spot.

And the Blades have a very similar story to Wolves, who have gained promotion from the League One to the Championship and then the Premier League. Wolves, however, spent bigger sums of money on the likes of Diego Jota, Raul Jimenez, Ruben Neves and Jonny.

Blades Manager Chris Wilder has praised Nuno Santo’s side and stated his admiration for the club:

“They are a great example. Positive in their approach. Kept the side they had and added which is what we all want or try to do. They are a powerful football club and deservedly took their place in the PL,” Wilder said to BBC Radio Sheffield.

“They’ve gone from strength to strength. They are quite a way ahead of us at the moment but one we look at. If investment comes into the team, it gives us a chance of competing with the likes of Wolves, definitely”.

Wolves have surely been aided well financially. However, this doesn’t undermine their achievements. Wolves finished seventh last season, a spot that helped them claim an European spot. The performances they put in last season against the bigger clubs were noteworthy.

Nuno has played a 3-4-3 formation. He has used what he feels will get the best out of his squad, just like Chris Wilder. Also, he hasn’t got rid of players like Conor Coady, Willy Boly, Matt Doherty, Ruben Neves, and Diogo Jota, who were all a part of Wolves’ Championship winning campaign. Instead, he has strengthened the current squad by adding the likes of Raul Jimenez, Jonny and Joao Moutinho which has helped in improving the squad.

Both Wolves and Sheffield are very similar sides. And Chris Wilder will surely want to replicate Wolves’ success by the end of the season.
