Heung-Min Son was one of the few at N17 to thrive under Jose Mourinho and Daily Telegraph claimed the South Korean was one of those who were ‘upset’ by the Portuguese’ departure.

He was a player who Jose clearly trusted, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the same with the majority of the squad. The 28-year-old’s partnership with Harry Kane flourished under Mourinho, as the duo were unstoppable since Jose took over – sadly Spurs over-rely on them.

Son, backed Daily Telegraph’s claims, speaking to TV3 Sport revealed that it is ‘really sad’ that Jose Mourinho is no longer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, suggesting his former boss still remains one of the best in the world at what he does.

“It’s always sad if someone lose the day job. Having worked with him for 17 or 18 months, it’s been up and down it’s been good and sometimes we’ve been not so good. I think for me and my memory he will still be one of the best managers in the world.

“It’s just so sad that he didn’t go with success. It was really sad because he is the guy that wins everything. It was the only team that he wasn’t successful, so I feel really sorry about this kind of thing,” Son said.

Although Spurs were massively underwhelming off late under Jose and the sack is understandable suggesting the standards Levy sets. And Son has not let the disappointment of Mourinho’s departure affected his performances on the pitch – with two goals in three games under Ryan Mason.
