Chelsea host Burnley at Stamford Bridge this afternoon and will be looking to go back to winning ways. This will be Chelsea’s second game under Thomas Tuchel and they will be aiming to bounce back after a rather underwhelming season. Chelsea has won just one of their last six fixtures in the league and sit eleven points off of the top in eighth place.
Chelsea faced off Wolves last week and the game ended in a goalless draw in what was Thomas Tuchel’s debut game as a Chelsea Manager. It’ll be a daunting task for Tuchel to find the right lineup and the right players to start the game with to break down a resilient Burnley defence.
Tuchel previously mentioned that he will go with the mix of experience and quality rather than talent unlike the Blues’ previous manager, Frank Lampard. Hence, one could expect veterans like Olivier Giroud, Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, etc to play a part against the Clarets.
N’Golo Kante was the only Chelsea player with injury problems but is expected to return for this match, allowing Tuchel to choose his best side from a full squad. Timo Werner was not involved at all against Wolves last week but could be included in the starting lineup tonight. Kai Havertz may be dropped to the bench given his recent form and Mason Mount is expected to take his place in the starting lineup. Tuchel may also shift from a back-three to a back-four after a mediocre performance against Wolves last week.
Chelsea Predicted XI vs Burnley:
(4-3-3): Mendy; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Silva, Chilwell; Mount, Jorginho, Kovacic; Hudson-Odoi, Werner, Pulisic.
