Unsurprisingly, Watford’s pacey winger Ismalia Sarr has professed his desire to join Liverpool amid links to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Though the 22-year-old Senegalese star affirms that his future at the club lies in the hand of the club’s management.
Considering the Hornets’ relegation to the Championship, the club might consider selling some of their stars this summer, to recoup some funds and reinvest by making some cheap signings who could help them back to the top flight next season.
However, Sarr has revealed that he would gladly oblige to the club’s decision if they intend to keep him at the club.
As per Standard Sport, it is understood that the club will only consider a tempting offer, likely to be around £40 million for his signature. An amount seen as good enough to enhance an agreement between both clubs, considering Sarr’s quality.
In an interview, the youngster recently expressed his thoughts on a potential move to the Anfield.
“Liverpool are a really great team, everyone would love to play there,” he told Senegalese outlet Sans Limites. “They won the Premier League this year and the Champions League last year. But there are other great teams in the English league. Frankly, I have yet to make a choice. If I am to leave, I just hope it is for a good team. At the moment, it is just guesswork.
“I still have years left on my contract with Watford; another four years. If Watford want me to stay, I’ll play in the Championship. A departure depends on them as well as me. This is normal.”
Looking at Liverpool’s attacking trio, Sarr might find it hard to command a starting berth so soon, but a player of his quality wouldn’t take too long before he eventually becomes a fan favourite at Anfield.
His quality and strengths could be likened to his compatriot Sadio Mane, who has once again, in the just concluded season proved his importance and worth in Jurgen Klopp’s team who became the eventual Premier League champions.
Sarr’s stock has risen sporadically since he finally adapted to the Premier League. His form which he was able to rediscover before the conclusion of the league, has attracted the interests of other Premier League clubs, who are now after his signature.
But as it stands, Watford might decide to allow Sarr to fulfil his wish to join the Reds if a considerable offer from Liverpool is being tabled.
